Danger | Risk of death caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off during lifting | Only lift vehicle at the lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.
Warning | Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. | Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.
Warning | Risk of injury to skin or eyes from hydraulic fluid spraying out under pressure.Risk of poisoning from swallowing hydraulic fluid. | Depressurize hydraulic system completely before starting any work on it. Wear protective clothing and safety glasses.
Warning | Danger of injury to eyes caused by steering oil emerging at high pressure. Danger of poisoning caused by swallowing steering oil | The adjustment screws for the hydraulic steering limiters must be turned in by at least three rotations. Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.
Warning | Risk of injury from being trapped in the swivel range of steered axles | Ensure that no persons or objects are in the swivel range of all steered axles when turning the steering wheel. Do not stand in the swivel range of the additional steering axle when the engine is running.
Warning | Risk of injury caused by body parts being pinched or crushed as cab is tilted | Ensure that no one is within the tilting range of the cab as it is being tilted. Always tilt the cab all the way to the end position and secure with the safety strut.

| Remove | ||
| Switch on ignition | So that the steering can be turned and the engine can be started and stopped to allow bleeding with the cab tilted.
| Open maintenance flap
| Secure vehicle against rolling
| Raise vehicle at front axle far enough so that wheels can turn freely, and jack up vehicle
.1 | Turn steering to the right | On left-hand drive vehicles
.2 | Turn the steering to the left | On right-hand drive vehicles
| Unscrew nut (3) of the drag link (4) at the pitman arm (2) and screw on again by hand
| Detach drag link (4) from pitman arm (2) | The drag link (4) is released suddenly.
Puller | |||
| Unscrew nut (3) and remove drag link (4)
| Set steering gear to center position | To do so, turn the steering completely in the opposite direction. While doing this, count the number of times the steering wheel is turned. Then turn the steering back halfway and set the steering wheel to the straight-ahead position.
Bleeding | |||
| Tilt cab | On model 957 | |
| Check steering gear oil level in oil reservoir (1) and correct if necessary | Steering gear oil (ATF)
| Start engine and allow to run at idle speed until air bubbles no longer rise to the surface in the oil reservoir (1) | Note the steering gear oil level in the oil reservoir (1) and top up the steering gear oil, if necessary. The steering gear oil level in the oil reservoir (1) must not drop below the "min." mark, otherwise air will be drawn in.

| Turn off engine | ||
| Check steering gear oil level in oil reservoir (1) and correct if necessary | Steering gear oil (ATF)
| Seal oil container (1)
| Lower cab | ||
| Start engine and run at idle speed
| Turn steering wheel several times to mechanical steering stop at left and right
| Set steering gear to center position
| Turn off engine | ||
| Switch on ignition | ||
| Tilt cab | ||
| Check steering gear oil level in oil reservoir (1) and correct if necessary | Steering gear oil (ATF)
| Start engine and run at idle speed | Monitor power steering fluid in oil reservoir (1). Air bubbles must no longer rise to the surface in the oil reservoir (1).
| Turn off engine | After the engine is switched off, the steering gear oil level in the oil reservoir (1) may rise by max. 2 cm. If the steering gear oil level in the oil reservoir (1) rises by more than 2 cm, this means air is still present in the system and the bleeding process must be repeated.

| Lower cab | ||
.1 | Turn steering to the right | On left-hand drive vehicles
.2 | Turn the steering to the left | On right-hand drive vehicles
| Attach drag link (4) to steering gear pitman arm (2) and tighten nut (3) | Replace nut (3).

| Move front wheels to straight-ahead position
| Raise front axle, remove jack stands and lower vehicle
| Switch off ignition | ||
| Tilt cab | ||
| Check steering gear oil level in oil reservoir (1) and correct if necessary | Steering gear oil (ATF)
| Seal oil container (1)
| Lower cab | On model 957
| Close maintenance flap
| Perform a test drive | During the test drive, check the overall steering ability of the vehicle. |
