With immediate effect, when replacing air conditioning system components and then returning parts for warranty inspection, a control unit log and a printout/log of the refrigerant quantity extracted from and poured into the air conditioning service unit must be enclosed with the component. To make printing out easier, the diagnostic device has the menu item "Control unit log". In this menu item, the following data is compiled automatically and can then be printed out:
Control units
Vehicle data
Customer complaint (to be filled out by workshop personnel)
Fault memory
Ambient data
Quick test
If air conditioning components carrying refrigerant are leaking or replaced, the following must be additionally taken into consideration when returning parts for warranty inspection:
To be able to carry out inspection simply and properly, air conditioning components which have been replaced due to leaks should be marked clearly and in a wipe-resistant manner at the leakage points. It is essential to document the extracted quantity of refrigerant by means of a current printout/log from the air conditioning service unit. The technician's findings report must contain a concise explanation of how the leakage was located (specification of aids: e.g. contrast agents, R134a sniffer, leak detection spray, forming gas, nitrogen). See warranty manual, chapter WR 0405060 Technician's findings report.
A leak test must always be performed in line with the available WIS documentation.
The use of contrast agents is no longer permissible in most cases (e.g. Europe, see directive 2006/40/EC "Emissions from air conditioning system in motor vehicles").
It is not permitted to use contrast agent on vehicles with CO2 air conditioning system (refrigerant R744).
All parts from the refrigerant circuit (refrigerant compressor, expansion valve, lines, condenser) which are sent in for warranty inspection must be sealed with suitable stop plugs.
To ensure correct inspection of the component, it is important to complete the field "Customer complaint (remark concerning damage case)".
This must include a detailed technician's findings report as well as any other relevant information or freeze frame data.
