Modification notes
| Remove/install | ||
| Notes on self-locking nuts and bolts | ||
Danger! | Risk of injury caused by body parts being pinched or crushed as cab is tilted | Ensure that no one is within the tilting range of the cab as it is being tilted. Always tilt the cab all the way to the end position and secure with the safety strut.
1 | Tilt cab | ||
| Notes on tilting the cab | ||
2 | Remove soundproofing in the top right and left
3 | Remove air filter | Only on vehicles with code (M62) Round filter under cab with rear air intake.
4 | Remove cover above transmission
5 | Unpressurized circuit 4 of compressed-air system | Loosen union nut (24) on clutch booster (3) or on clutch actuator approx. 2 revolutions, counterholding the banjo bolt (20) in the process.
6 | Detach brake lines from mounting frame bow and place to one side | Only on model 934.
7 | Detach mounting frame bow from frame and place to one side with electrical lines still connected | Only on model 934.
8 | Detach cab carrier at rear of frame | Only on vehicles with code (F04) Cab L (long)
| |||
9 | Disconnect adapter or connections on PTO
10 | Detach propeller shaft and fasten to frame
11 | Remove retarder | Applies to vehicles equipped with retarder only.
Vehicles with code (BA9) Voith secondary retarder R 115.
Vehicles with code (BA1) Performance-optimized Voith retarder
12 | Detach coolant lines (11) from retarder and the brackets on the transmission | Only vehicles with code (BA9) Voith secondary retarder R 115
13 | Detach battery wiring harness (18) on transmission and place to one side
14 | Detach air line (19) from clutch booster (3) or clutch actuator, detach from clamp (22) then place to one side
15 | Detach connector (21) for compressed air line on the clutch booster (3) | Only for vehicles without code (GE2) Electronic drive control II or without code (GE3) Mercedes PowerShift or without code (GE7) Mercedes PowerShift 2.
Installation: Install new O-rings at banjo bolt (20).
| |||
16 | Separate electrical connector for clutch travel sensor (B2) | Only for vehicles without code (GE2) Electronic drive control II or without code (GE3) Mercedes PowerShift or without code (GE7) Mercedes PowerShift 2.
17.1 | Detach clutch booster (3) and place to one side | Vehicles without code (GE2) Electronic drive control II or without code (GE3) Mercedes PowerShift or without code (GE7) Mercedes PowerShift 2.
Do not loosen hydraulic line (23).
| |||
Danger! | Risk of injury caused by body parts being trapped or crushed when working on the pressurized clutch actuator | Always remove ignition key and open bleed screw before removing clutch actuator.
17.2 | Remove clutch actuator | Vehicles with code (GE2) Electronic drive control II or
18 | Detach oil cooler lines (13) from transmission and fasten to longitudinal frame member | Catch escaping oil. Seal connections of oil cooler lines (12) using suitable stop plugs.
