| Removing | ||
| Notes on self-locking nuts and bolts | ||
Danger! | Risk of injury caused by body parts being pinched or crushed as cab is tilted | Ensure that no one is within the tilting range of the cab as it is being tilted. Always tilt the cab all the way to the end position and secure with the safety strut.
1 | Tilt cab | Only with code (F04) cab L (long).
| Notes on tilting the cab | ||
2 | Remove bottom and top sections of soundproofing capsule
3 | Remove cover of running board above the transmission (1)
4 | Detach compressed air line (2) at separation point and clamps and tie up to one side
5 | Detach gate shift cylinder (3) with lines installed on transmission (1) and place to one side | The gearshift must be in neutral.
6 | Detach gear shift cylinder (4) with lines attached on transmission (1) and place to one side
7 | Disconnect transmission connector (X29) at the separation point
8 | Unplug connector from speed sensor (B17)
9 | Detach line of speed sensor (B17) at transmission wiring harness
10 | Remove crossmember (8) and support rod from muffler under the transmission (1)
11 | Detach compressed-air line (10) from banjo bolt fitting (11) and on transmission (1) and put down to one side | Only on transmission without central clutch release bearing.
Counterhold at banjo bolt fitting (11) in order to prevent removal of the compressed-air line (10).
12 | Disconnect compressed air line (12) from clutch booster (9) | Only on transmission without central clutch release bearing.
13 | Disconnect electrical connector from clutch travel sensor (B2) | Only on transmission without central clutch release bearing.
14 | Detach clutch booster (9) from transmission (1) and place to one side with the hydraulic line attached | Only on transmission without central clutch release bearing.
15 | Detach hydraulic line from central clutch release bearing connection | Only on transmission with central clutch release bearing. Collect escaping hydraulic fluid.
| Notes on hydraulic fluid as per Specification, Sheet 345.0 | ||
16 | Detach propeller shaft (7) at output flange of transmission (1) and place to one side
17 | Disconnect adapter or connections on PTO | Only on vehicles with power take-off.
18 | Detach lines for transmission oil cooling on transmission and place to one side | Only with code (N55) Transmission oil cooling. Collect escaping transmission oil.
19 | Remove clamps (13) for fastening the battery lines (14) and place battery lines (14) to one side
20 | Support transmission (1) using a transmission jack
21 | Detach support arms (5) from frame and transmission (1)
22 | Lift transmission (1) and support engine at timing case using suitable means | When lifting, pay attention to the fan and the flexible exhaust pipe on the engine.
23 | Unscrew bolts of transmission (1) at engine, pull transmission (1) out of the timing case and lower | When pulling out ensure that the electric and pneumatic lines are not damaged.
| Install | ||
24 | Detach cap (17) on gear module (18) and using the drive plate, engage any gear
25 | Turn the release bearing (16) on the clutch until the roll pin (16.1) is in a horizontal position | Only on transmission without central clutch release bearing.
The transmission input shaft, guide tube and inner slide surface of the release bearing must not be greased as the function of the clutch operating system is impaired by the grease.
Adequate lubrication is provided by the plastic coating of the inner slide surface of the release bearing and thus the function of the clutch operating system is guaranteed.
26 | Move the transmission (1) from below into the installation position | When pulling out ensure that the electric and pneumatic lines are not damaged.
27 | Push transmission (1) into the timing case, turning at the output flange in the process | On vehicles without central clutch release bearing the rollers of the release lever (15) must engage in the rear flange of the clutch operator (16) past the guide groove of the clutch operator (16).
Ensure that the electric and pneumatic lines are not damaged.
28 | Screw in the bolts of the transmission (1) at the engine
29 | Move gearshift into neutral with the drive plate on the gear module (18) and install new cap (17)
30 | Lift transmission (1) using the transmission jack | When lifting, pay attention to the fan and the flexible exhaust pipe on the engine.
31 | Install support arms (5) on transmission (1)
32 | Lower the transmission (1) onto the rear engine mounts and install support arms (5) on frame
33 | Position the battery lines (14) and install clamps (13)
34 | Install lines of transmission oil cooling on transmission (1) | Only with code (N55) Transmission oil cooling.
| |||
35 | Install adapter or connections on power takeoff | Only on vehicles with power take-off.
36 | Install propeller shaft (7) on output flange of transmission (1)
37 | Install clutch booster (9) on transmission (1) | Only on transmission without central clutch release bearing. Noticeable resistance must be present when inserting the clutch booster (9). If there is no resistance noticeable the release lever (15) is not in the flange of the release bearing (16).
| |||
38 | Install compressed-air line (12) on clutch booster (9) | Only on transmission without central clutch release bearing. Install new seals.
| |||
39 | Install compressed-air line (10) on banjo bolt fitting (11) and on transmission (1) | Only on transmission without central clutch release bearing.
Counterhold at banjo bolt fitting (11) in order to prevent removal of the compressed-air line (10).
| |||
40 | Connect electrical connector to clutch travel sensor (B2) | Only on transmission without central clutch release bearing.
41 | Install hydraulic line on central clutch release bearing connection | Only on transmission with central clutch release bearing. Replace seal ring on hydraulic line.
