Danger ! | Risk of injury to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolantspray. Risk of poisoning from swallowing coolant. | Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 °C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.
Danger ! | Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. | Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

| Check | ||
1 | Check coolant level on coolant expansion reservoir (2) | Check coolant level at coolant temperature under 50_°C only.
2 | Unscrew cap (1) | ||
3 | Check composition of anticorrosion or antifreeze | If the antifreeze content is too low, calculate the deficient quantity of antifreeze.

After calculating the deficient quantity:
| |||
Open drain screw (5) and drain coolant (to match missing quantity of antifreeze) into a container. Then tighten drain screw (5). Then perform operation steps 5 to 13.
Drain screw on engine radiator
4 | Tighten cap (1) | Only perform, if no coolant or antifreeze has to be added.
Add coolant or antifreeze
5 | Switch on ignition | ||
6 | Set heater control to warm and switch on blower
7 | Switch on auxiliary water heater | Only with CODE D6N (Auxiliary water heater, cab and engine).
8 | Add coolant or antifreeze | If the cab is not tilted, the coolant or antifreeze can be added using a funnel (6). For this, remove cap (3) and insert a funnel (6) into the opening.
The coolant expansion reservoir (2) on 4cylinder and 6cylinder engines must be filled to the "6cyl. with Allison MAX" (arrow A) marking.

9 | Fit cap (1) and, if necessary, cap (3)
10 | Start engine and allow to run for approx. 10 minute | Check coolant level at coolant temperature under 50_°C only.
11 | Turn off engine | ||
12 | Switch off auxiliary water heater | Only with CODE D6N (Auxiliary water heater, cab and engine).
13 | Check coolant level again, if necessary, correct coolant level |
