Function requirements for torque coordination, general points
Circuit 87 (Engine management ON)
Engine runs
Torque coordination, general
The torque interface in the CDI control unit (N3/9) coordinates and prioritizes (according to drivability and defined priority) the requirements of all systems that make an engine torque request. It also determines how dynamically each request is to be implemented.
The following systems and functions can request engine torque:
Maximum torque limitation
Rpm limitation
Transmission control, fully integrated transmission control unit (Y3/8n4) (with code 427 (7G-TRONIC)) or (with code 421 (9G-TRONIC)) via the drive train CAN (CAN C1)
Cruise control, Electronic Stability Program control unit (N30/4) over chassis FlexRay (Flex E) to powertrain control unit (N127)
The driver, through the accelerator pedal sensor (B37)
DISTRONIC PLUS, over radar sensors control unit (N62/1) (with code P20 (Driving Assistance package) via chassis FlexRay
Function sequence for torque coordination
Depending on the dynamics of the requests, the CDI control unit varies the engine torque by:
Extending or shortening the injection period of the fuel injectors (Y76)
Increasing or lowering the fuel pressure in the rails via the pressure regulating valve (Y74) and quantity control valve (Y94)
