A delivery inspection is performed on the Vito before it is handed over to the customer. The content procedure involved is available in the work instructions (AP00.20-D-1100A).
FUG 40 - Operating fluids
Automatic transmission fluid
Only automatic transmission fluid with specification 236.15 may be used. The color of the oil has changed from red to blue.
The blue oil must not be used in older transmissions.
More detailed information can be found in AP27.00-S-2702E.

FUG 16 - Common rail diesel injection system
Injectors
Only solenoid valve controlled injectors are installed in the models available.
Remove injectors using a special tool (651 589 01 33 00 Extraction claw).
FG 27 - Automatic transmission
FUG 00 - General
Automatic transmission oil and oil filter change
To improve the oil supply for the new automatic transmission the oil pan and the overflow pipe have been re-designed.
Because of this, when carrying out an oil change, the overflow pipe has to be loosened using a special tool (722 589 03 15 00 Drift) and the oil pan has to be removed. The overflow pipe must be replaced before the oil pan is installed. These steps are necessary to ensure that all the gear oil is drained off. The relevant work instructions (AP27.00-S-2702E) must be observed here.
FUG 60 - Shift mechanism, control system
On vehicles with code FA8 (AGILITY SELECT switch), it should be noted that adaptation of the automatic transmission shift operations is carried out exclusively in drive programs "E" and "C". An adaptation in drive program "M" would mean that either no, or false, adaptation values are stored.
FG 40 - Wheels, wheel alignment check
FUG 00 - General
Wheel Replacement, Lifting, Lowering
If, after lifting the vehicle, the rear wheels are to be detached or work is to be carried out on the drivetrain (propeller shaft etc.), then the vehicle must be raised (or lowered, if also necessary) without stressing the drivetrain.
For vehicles with manual transmission, the neutral gear must be engaged when lifting the vehicle.
For vehicles with automatic transmission, the "N" gear position must be engaged when lifting the vehicle. Due to the fact that after switching off the engine and opening the driver door, irrespective of the currently engaged gear range, the "P" range is automatically engaged, it is necessary - when the driver door is open, the brake pedal operated and the key inserted - to manually select the "N" gear range. The key must not then be removed after doing so, because if it is removed then the "P" gear range is automatically engaged.
With the vehicle lowered and gear range "N" still engaged or the neutral gear engaged, the wheel bolts not yet tightened to the specified value can then be tightened without the need for any further measures.
FG 42 - Brakes - Hydraulic and mechanical components
FUG 20 - Parking brake
The Vito has a manual parking brake which is applied in the usual way by means of a pedal in the driver's footwell and released by means of a release handle underneath the rotary light switch.
FG 49 - Exhaust system
The exhaust system contains a near-engine mounted oxicat followed immediately by a diesel particulate filter (DPF). Depending on the pollutant class involved, a main and rear muffler are installed downstream for the Euro 5b+ exhaust system emissions standard and two SCR catalytic converters and a rear muffler for the Euro 6 Standard.
FG 54 - Electrical system, equipment and instruments
FUG 00 - General
A sufficient power supply for the vehicle's on-board electrical system must be provided for all testing and repair work (AR54.10-S-1127E).

G1 | On-board electrical system battery | B95 | Battery sensor | |
G1/12 | Support battery (with code MJ8 (ECO start/stop function "plus")) |
FUG 10 - Battery, power supply, voltage converter
Voltage supply
The on-board electrical system battery (G1) with battery sensor (B95), backup battery (G1/12) or Emergency-P battery (G1/13) are mounted in the seat base on the passenger side. Directly in front of them is the prefuse box (F1).
The additional battery (G1/1) is in the seat base on the driver side.
Depending on the selected on-board electrical system battery (G1), the additional battery (G1/1) is also controlled. This means that the additional battery (G1/1) is the same type as the starter battery. No consumers are connected to the additional battery (G1/1) at the factory; consumers must be connected by the body manufacturer.
The support battery (G1/12) assumes the DC/DC converter's function for the startup phase period (a few milliseconds) and ensures constant (supported) on-board electrical system voltage when the engine is restarted. The backup battery (G1/12) is monitored by the signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit (N10/1) and charged through a relay.
The Emergency-P battery (G1/13) replaces the support battery (G1/12) in vehicles with transmission 722.9 and without code MJ8 (ECO start/stop function "plus") in order to ensure that it is possible to shift into "P" at any moment even if the on-board electrical system battery (G1) fails by means of "shift-by-wire".
The advanced alternator management is used in the Vito as standard. This contributes to a reduction in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. If the charge level of the on-board electrical system battery (G1) is high enough, the alternator's charging function is switched off, and the on-board electrical system is powered by the battery. The battery is charged in deceleration mode or depending on the battery's charge level, which is permanently monitored.
The fuse assignment diagram is located in the vehicle's hard copy version of the owner's manual.
Terminal strip for electrical connection
On the Vito, the terminal strip for electrical connections is installed in the front passenger footwell. The trim in the front passenger footwell must be detached for the connections to be used. The following connections are available to the body manufacturer:
Terminal 15, fuse F320, 15 A
Terminal 30, fuse F321, 25 A
Terminal 61, fuse F319, 15 A
FUG 15 - Fuse and relay module

S54.15-4585-81
FUG 21 - Control units/modules
Multifunction camera
The multifunction camera (B84/8) installed in the new Vito is available in two variants with different functional scopes.
Entry Version: Driving Lights Assist.
High Version: Driving Lights Assist, Lane Keeping Assist.
When replacing the multifunction camera (B84/8) a separate tool is required (see WS82.00-P-0028B). This contains a template that must be fixed to the headlamp adjuster. The adjustment and teach-in process must then be conducted in the diagnostic system.
COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST
The COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST distance warning function detects vehicles driving and stopping ahead. The radar unit is on the right side of the front bumper. The system works up to a maximum distance of 65 m.
A distinction is made between two different uses of the system:
Static distance warning, from 30 km/h:
A visual warning (indicator lamp in the instrument cluster) remains lit if the vehicle in front is too close. The warning appears from a speed of 30 km/h and only for moving or stopping objects, it does not appear for stationary objects.
Dynamic rear-end collision warning, from 7 km/h:
The dynamic rear-end collision warning is activated when the vehicle approaches another vehicle too fast or with heavy acceleration. In this case, both a visual warning (indicator lamp in the instrument cluster flashes) and an acoustic warning (intermittent tone) is issued. The distance warning function can be switched on/off via the onboard computer. The setting is retained the next time the engine is started.
Signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit (N10/1)
The signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit (N10/1) controls energy management, the front left lamp unit (E1) or front right lamp unit (E2) (halogen lamps) and the relay, among others.
Active Park Assist
The Active Park Assist, version APC 2.0, locates suitable parking spaces with the aid of the PARKTRONIC sensors and steers the vehicle automatically and precisely into the parking space.
The parking space must fulfill the following requirements if it is to be detected by the Active Park Assist:
parallel or perpendicular to the direction of travel
At least 1.5 m wide for parking spaces parallel to the direction of travel
At least 1.0 m longer than the vehicle for parking spaces parallel to the direction of travel
At least 1.0 m wider than the vehicle for parking spaces perpendicular to the direction of travel
In the case of vehicles with attached trailer hitch, the minimum length of parking spaces increases slightly. The Active Park Assist is not available if the trailer socket is in use.
If the vehicle has been driven into a parking space using the Active Park Assist, the Assist function can also be used to drive the vehicle back out of the parking space. The parking space exit process is performed up to approx. 45° from the start position and then control is handed back to the driver.
ATTENTION ASSIST attention assistance system
The standard ATTENTION ASSIST attention assistance system is specially useful on long journeys and when driving at night. The system alerts the driver to detected signs of increasing inattentiveness and fatigue.
Blind spot assist
The Blind Spot Assist detects vehicles in the blind spot using two short-range radar sensors in the rear bumper. The detection range extends approx. 3.5 m on both sides of the vehicle and up to 3 m behind the B-pillar beyond the rear end.
If a vehicle is detected in the blind spot, a red hazard warning triangle appears in the respective outside mirror. If, despite this visual warning, the driver activates the turn signal for a lane change, the hazard warning triangle begins to flash and a dual warning tone sounds once. The system is active in a vehicle speed range of 30 km/h up to the vehicle's maximum design speed. Blind Spot Assist is deactivated for speeds below 30 km/h and when in reverse gear, as well as in trailer operation when the trailer is connected to the vehicle via the trailer socket.
The Blind Spot Assist can be switched on/off via the menu in the on-board computer.
FUG 30 Instrument cluster, instrument/warning system display
Instrument cluster (A1/1)
The standard instrument cluster has two analog dial-type gauges and a 2.7" black/white display for showing information from the on-board computer. The instrument cluster has four buttons used to show different pieces of information in the display.
Code JK3 (Instrument cluster with pixel-matrix display) is available as an optional extra. The instrument cluster also has two dial-type gauges used to indicate the fuel supply and the coolant temperature. Furthermore, the dial-type gauges for indicating speed and rpm are enhanced with chrome trim. The instrument cluster has a 4.2" TFT display for showing vehicle settings. It is controlled via the multifunction steering wheel with trip computer (CODE CL4).
An adjustment wheel for adjusting the brightness of the instrument illumination is also provided.
FUG 61 Tachograph, taximeter
Digital tachograph
The data recorded in the digital tachograph must be reliable and irrefutable. All steering times, working periods, availability periods and rest periods are recorded on a driver card. This driver card must be requested and is directly assigned to the respective driver. The memory preset is sufficient for documenting 28 working days uninterrupted. Apart from this, the device is also equipped with a mass storage device, whose stored data can provide a clear indication of who, when, at which speed and how long the vehicle has been driven during the course of the last year. Information used for the periodic inspection is also stored on the mass storage device. The stored data can be checked on a display, printed out on an internal printer or downloaded by means of a PC. For this purpose, the data can be imported from the mass storage device to a commercially available download key.
The digital tachograph is installed in the upper slot of the two 1-DIN slots in the center console.
The digital tachograph stays in the upper center console when in combination with code ER0 (Pre-installation for radio). If a double-DIN radio is selected in the factory, then the digital tachograph is installed in the 1-DIN slot in the lower center console (code FF2). Individual control of the installation configuration is not possible.
The separate operator's manual for the digital tachographs is supplied with the vehicle documents.
It is not possible to retrofit a digital tachograph. Manual and automatic transmission are not intended for this and would have to be changed.
Observe national legal requirements for tachograph testing. In the Federal Republic of Germany, carry out tachograph testing in accordance with § 57b of StVZO (German vehicle licensing regulations).
FUG 65 - Parking Assist
Backup camera
Vehicles can be equipped with the reversing camera, an optional extra, in combination with code EN7 (Audio 15). The following functions are shown in the display:
Static guide lines are displayed in order to better assess the area to the rear of the vehicle. This makes maneuvering and parking easier.
The display is available within two seconds, even if the radio is switched off.
FUG 71 Lane Assistant
Lane Assistant monitors the roadway ahead with the help of a camera attached to the inside of the windshield from a speed of 60 km/h. The system uses differences in contrast to identify the lane and markings.
Using the instrument cluster, the driver can select between 2 settings. In "Standard mode", the steering wheel vibrates to warn the driver every time the lane boundary is crossed unless the driver actuates the turn signal indicator. In "Adaptive mode", the steering wheel warning is suppressed if the lane marking is crossed deliberately (e. g. heavy acceleration, heavy braking, rapid steering movement). Lane Assistant is a passive safety system and does not actively intervene in control of the vehicle.
The system can be deactivated using a push button switch above the rotary light switch. If the system has been deactivated, it will also remain deactivated after the vehicle is started again. The diode in the push button switch is lit when the system is active.

FUG 10 - Front door
Door module
In the new Vito, a "door module" is installed at the front door. This ''door module'' acts as a carrier for all components that are installed in the front door. All other information required for repair work is available in the work instructions (AR72.10-S-0900E).
FUG 16 - Sliding doors
Service mode
When working on the electrically operated sliding door (2) a service mode may be activated, differing here form the WIS documentation. This enables the electric sliding door (2) to be moved to any position. This makes repair work easier. To activate it, the service mode has to be set by the diagnostic system, and then manually confirmed by operating the door lock (1) (arrows).
Automatic reserving function
If the sliding door (2) automatic reversing function is actuated for approx. 40 s, then the sliding door (2) electric drive is switched off. In this case, the sliding door (2) must be opened manually and must remain open for at least 40 s. To activate the electric drive of the sliding door (2), the sliding door (2) has to be manually closed.
Active fastening device of sliding door
The active fastening device locks the sliding door (2) in its open end position. As a result, the open sliding door (2) remains in its end position even on inclines. To close, the sliding door (2) must be unlocked using the door handle. The active fastening device is installed as standard on vehicles with rear seating.

The inside rear-view mirror has a sensor that measures the light intensity on the inside rear-view mirror relative to the ambient light. If there is a great difference between the two values, the inside rear-view mirror and driver-side outside mirrors are dimmed automatically.

PRE-SAFE
The preventive PRE-SAFE occupant protection system uses sensor information to detect typical potential accident situations as they arise, and then initiates safety precautions for the occupants.
Safety precautions:
Reversible belt tensioning on front seat
If necessary, adaptation of the front passenger seat position depending on the currently selected seat position and the accident conditions. Special equipment code SF2 (Electrically adjustable front passenger seat) is required in order to do this.
Closing of open windows in the driver and front passenger doors. The windows are left open slightly (small gap).
If the accident is prevented, the seat belts are released again and the settings for the windows in the driver and front passenger doors and for the front passenger seat can be freely selected again. The system is immediately ready for operation again.
FUG 60 Airbag, pedestrian protection
Driver and front passenger THORAX-PELVIS SIDEBAG
The sidebags for the driver and front passenger can help to protect the side of the passengers' body in the event of a side impact, and additionally stabilize the entire body. As a result, they can reduce the risk of serious injury in the event of an accident. The airbags are installed as standard in the Vito Tourer PRO and SELECT.
Windowbags for driver, front passenger and in rear passenger compartment
The windowbag for the driver, front passenger and rear passenger compartment is available as an option for the medium vehicle length variant. The windowbags for the driver, front passenger and rear passenger compartment are installed in the headliner from the A to D-pillar and are deployed in the case of activation in the area of the side windows. As a result, the airbags can reduce the risk of injury in the event of a side impact. A large section of the side area is covered by the windowbag.
The windowbags are only available for the Vito Tourer in the medium body length variant.
Automatic deactivation of front passenger airbag
The special equipment "Automatic child seat recognition (ACSR)" adds an automatic child seat recognition function to the standard sensor mat for seat occupancy recognition (SBE) in the front passenger seat and the seat belt reminder (SBR). An indicator lamp in the instrument panel below the hazard warning flasher switch indicates deactivation of the front passenger airbag. ACSR reduces the risk of injury to the child by deactivating the front passenger airbag and thereby preventing a collision between the airbag and the child or child seat. In contrast to manual systems, the automatic child seat recognition system means that it is not possible to forget to deactivate the front passenger airbag. The use of a rear-facing child seat is not permitted unless the front passenger airbag has been deactivated.
