The following pages provide you with an overview of the new X-Class standard equipment and highlights. Detailed information on additional scopes is available in the sales information.

The front displays a self-assured expression of the characteristic SUV face with integrated central three-pointed star, two slat radiator grille, a higher and potently modelled hood as well as headlamps drawn deeply into the fenders. The emphasized width of the front apron has its very own character to match the equipment line involved. In the basic Line PURE (code Z1X) it is unpainted and therefore it is not susceptible to scratches and impacts. In the Line PROGRESSIVE (code Z1Y) equipment line, it is painted in the vehicle color. The premium-quality model variant Line POWER (Code Z1Z) also comes with bumpers painted in the vehicle color along with a chrome-plated simulated underguard.

Line POWER (code Z1Z)

The design idiom of the headlamps, with its clearly outlined contours and high-quality shaped details lend it an additional visual accent. The Line POWER (code Z1Z) is equipped as standard with high performance LED headlamps. Along with its striking look, with the hallmark "torch effect" it provides greater safety at night and in inclement weather conditions.

The "torch effect" integrates the perimeter and daytime running lights as LED optical fibers. The internal function is formed by the reflection technology high beam, the external function by the projection technology low beam. This is all rounded off by the distinctive face of the Mercedes-Benz pick-up, with two standard equipment front fog lamps in the front apron, that blend harmonically into the front-end design.

Interior
The interior of the X-Class has a clear, width-emphasized basic shape that exudes both power and exclusivity at one and the same time. The dynamically-shaped instrument panel comes with a concave trim element, that extends over its entire width – a first in this class of vehicle. It generates an open feeling of space and conveys puristic modernity. The X-Class Line POWER (code Z1Z) has three trim variants to choose from: Pixilated look in matt black, aluminum look with longitudinal grain and woodgrain look in matt brown. The open-pored wood or sporty aluminum look generates an enthralling contrast to the vehicle's robustness. In keeping with this high-quality impression, the upper part of the cockpit is in ARTICO man-made leather black or nut brown with elaborately worked topstitching.
Sporty highlights are set by the characteristic, round air vents. Depending on the equipment line involved, they come in bright-luster black or Silver Shadow thereby creating a high-quality cool  touch effect. This effect is boosted by the free standing central display, familiar from the V-Class. With a diagonal picture line of up to 8.4 ", it is the largest display in the midsize pickups segment. In the Line PROGRESSIVE (code Z1Y) and Line POWER (code Z1Z) equipment lines, the center console is also framed by a dominant Silver Shadow trim element. Silver Shadow is also used for the large-sized handles on the doors.

ABS (antilock brake system)

ABS regulates the brake pressure in critical situations. When braking, any locking up of the wheels through e.g. during maximum full-stop braking or insufficient adhesion of the tires, is prevented. When braking, the vehicle's steerability is assured. ABS operates at a speed of approx. 4 to 5 km/h. An ABS intervention when braking is made noticeable by a pulsating brake pedal. A pulsating brake pedal may be an indication that road conditions are hazardous, and it can remind a driver to use a particularly careful driving style.

Service Information: Innovations/changes for market launch of new models

Active Brake Assist
Active Brake Assist consists of a radar and camera assisted distance warning and situation-adapted brake force boosting through Adaptive Brake Assist with autonomous braking function.
Active Brake Assist can help to minimize the risk of collision with vehicles or pedestrians or to reduce the consequences of any accidents. If Active Brake Assist has detected a risk of collision, the driver is then acoustically warned. If the driver does not react to the acoustic warning, autonomous braking can be initiated in critical situations. In particularly critical situations Active Brake Assist can directly initiate autonomous braking. In this event, the acoustic warning tone will be issued at the same time as the brake application. The warning lamp also lights up in the instrument display. If the driver brakes himself in a critical situation or if during an autonomous braking procedure the brakes are applied, braking assistance is provided adapted to the given situation. This increases the brake pressure, if necessary, up to maximum full-stop braking.

S30.30-4538-76

BAS (Brake Assist System)

BAS provides additional brake force as support in an emergency braking situation. If the driver presses the brake pedal quickly, BAS is activated.

BAS automatically increases the brake pressure of the brakes.

BAS can shorten the braking distance.

ABS prevents the wheels from locking up.

Once the brake pedal is released, the brakes return to normal operation again and BAS is deactivated.

Engine type fitted

Engine model designation 699.30

Engine 699.30 is an inline, 4cylinder diesel engine with common rail direct injection with piezo injectors as well as an exhaust gas turbocharger and charge air cooling. BlueTEC technology is also integrated for the Euro6b standard.

Engine 699.30 has a 2.3 l displacement and it is available in two output stages with 120 kW with 3750 rpm and 140 kW with 3750 rpm.

The common rail direct injection with piezo injectors and a system pressure of up to 2000 bar guarantees precisely-controlled combustion cycles. Several injections per cycle are possible. This reduces the level of consumption, noise development and emissions. At the same time, response time and responsiveness are also improved.

The 120 kW variant has a single-stage exhaust gas turbocharger and it develops a maximum torque of 403 Nm at 15002500 rpm. This means it achieves high output and high torque from low rotational speeds.

The 140-kW variant has a two-stage exhaust gas turbocharger. The smaller exhaust gas turbocharger develops from 1,250 rpm roughly 80 % of maximum torque. The large exhaust gas turbocharger is switched in as speed increases. The combination provides uniform acceleration up to an upper speed limit. With a maximum torque of 450 Nm, the X 250 d provides commanding low-speed torque at 1,500 rpm in every situation.

Emissions levels

Depending on the relevant country-specific requirement, the X-Class fulfills the emissions standard Euro-5b+ Standard Gr. III as well as emissions standard Euro-6 Standard Standard Gr. III. BlueTEC technology is used to fulfill the vehicle low-pollutant emissions standard Euro-6 Standard Standard Gr. III, code MA6. The NOx reducing agent AdBlue® is used here for selective, catalytic reduction (SCR = Selective Catalytic Reduction) for exhaust gas aftertreatment.

SCR technology is not used for emissions standard Euro 5b + Gr. III (code MA4). Please note that a selection of the emissions standard for engines and countries is not possible.

AdBlue® only in combination with Euro 6 Standard

The following messages for adding AdBlue® may appear on the multifunction display:

Adding AdBlue®, see operator's manual: The AdBlue® container is down to the reserve tank. The AdBlue® range for engine 699.30 is now only approx. 2400 km.

Refill AdBlue®. No start in: xxx km: You can drive the vehicle for the displayed distance only. Fill with AdBlue® as quickly as possible.

Refill AdBlue®. Start not possible:

AdBlue® supply is exhausted. Engine start no longer possible. The AdBlue® fuel filler flap is located on right side of the vehicle. The tank capacity for the AdBlue® container is 17 l and it is located between the fuel tank and rear axle on the left side of vehicle.

Service Information: Innovations/changes for market launch of new models

Transmission
Engine 699.30 is equipped as standard with the 6-speed manual transmission (code GK6) and optionally available with (140 kW only) the 7-speed automatic transmission (code G7A).

The automatic transmission with 7 forward gears and one reverse gear provides a greater ratio range at low speed steps between the individual gear ranges.

The torque converter lockup clutch enables an almost rigid connection to be achieved between the engine and output shaft, to effectively avoid any power losses.

As the 7-speed automatic transmission can skip individual gears, multiple downshifts are also possible for powerful, fast intermediate spurts.

Better shifting comfort is provided through high slip.

The flip key and the KEYLESSGO key differ visually from each other. KEYLESSGO is available as standard in Line POWER (code Z1Z).

The KEYLESSGO system enables the vehicle to be comfortably unlocked, started and locked. To do so, all the driver has to do with this comfortable access and drive authorization system is have the electronic key in his possession. The driver/front passenger door can be unlocked and locked without the key by pressing the button on the door handle (central locking system). The engine too can be started and stopped simply by pressing the engine start/stop button in the ignition lock.

An emergency key integrated into the electronic key enables the lock cylinder in the driver's door to be opened if, e.g. the battery in the key is discharged at any time. The rear dropside is opened using the emergency key and it is not integrated into the central locking system. If the key is in the vehicle, then the vehicle cannot be locked to ensure that the driver cannot be locked out of the vehicle.
