Due to recent events, we would like to inform you about customer complaints regarding fabric and leather upholstery.
If seat covers are replaced by the workshop, these will continue to be inspected by the responsible warranty office.
Prior to replacing seat covers, it must therefore be ensured that the damage was not caused by the customer through soiling of the upholstery or due to the normal wear and tear of leather covers.

Discoloration of seat backrest, side bolsters and sitting surface
Unjustified warranty or goodwill claims for seat covers are frequently submitted. The seat covers exhibit partial discoloration, which was caused by external influences or personal negligence on the part of the customer (see pictures).
Causes:
Discoloration may occur depending on the given frequency of use. The following are usage-related effects. Soiling by dust, soot, grease, etc. or staining textiles as well as streaks caused by excessive perspiration can influence the appearance.
Important:
In the event of any uncertainty, please create a TIPS case (take SI00.00-S-0086A into consideration).
The age and mileage of the vehicle must be taken into account.
Information for customers:
Dark seat covers must also be cleaned to remove any residual perspiration or grease. Regular care and cleaning of seat covers only with approved Mercedes-Benz products (see below).

Mechanical abrasion on seat backrest, side bolster and sitting surface
Unjustified warranty or goodwill claims for seat covers are frequently submitted. The seat covers exhibit mechanical wear, which is caused by external influences or personal negligence on the part of the customer (see pictures). Mechanical abrasion usually appears on individual specific surfaces.
Causes:
The entry and exiting behavior on vehicles which are primarily used for transporting persons and goods causes high stress and concentrated loads. Particularly critical here are lap seams, topstitching, trim with piping along with projecting and narrow areas.
This is negatively influenced by factors such as different textile variants or jeans as well as pockets, metallic appliqués, hand-held scanners, mobile phone pouches, keys, various tools, driver stature (weight, size), vehicle concept (seat depth, threshold width).

Important:
In the event of any uncertainty, please create a TIPS case (take SI00.00-S-0086A into consideration).
The age and mileage of the vehicle must be taken into account.
These causes may also occur on leather seat covers as well as imitation leather seat covers.
Information for customers:
Adaptation of entry and exiting behavior. If necessary: Use of genuine Mercedes-Benz protective seat covers.

Ripples or creases on surface of front and/or passenger seats
Unjustified warranty or goodwill claims for seat covers are frequently submitted. If seat covers exhibit creases or ripples, these are usage-related or caused by external influences or personal negligence on the part of the customer (see pictures).
Please remember that leather seat covers as a natural product undergo natural aging and that certain environmental influences (e.g. high humidity, high temperatures) may cause the leather to react in different ways (heavy creasing).
Causes:
Regular usage of and loads on leather seat covers in combination with body moisture result in the material stretching, which can realize only a limited degree of resilience (leather/natural product).
This then means that there may be a change in appearance or feel. Structural deviations are possible and typical for the item in question.
Ripple or crease formation through overstretching or excessive stress caused by the customer's seating action as well as entry and exiting behavior.
Important:
In the event of any uncertainty, please create a TIPS case (take SI00.00-S-0086A into consideration).
The age and mileage of the vehicle must be taken into account.
These causes may also occur on leather seat covers as well as imitation leather seat covers.
Information for customers:
Adaptation of sitting action. Adaptation of entry and exiting behavior. A reduction in ambient humidity leads to a lesser increase in surface area.
