Function

The following sub-functions are active:

Alternator interface
- Messages are exchanged between the motor electronics control unit and the alternator via the alternator interface.

Maximum engine speed limitation
- For protection of the engine and the drive train the engine speed is limited

Motor Electronics (ME-SFI) ignition system
- The static high-voltage is distributed without an ignition distributor straight to the spark plugs

Cylinder-sequential port injection
- Injection takes place via the fuel injection valves directly upstream of the respective intake valve

Fuel pump actuation
- The fuel pump provides sufficient fuel in all operating conditions

Acceleration enrichment
- Dynamic enrichment prevents jerking when accelerating.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Safety fuel shutoff
- In the event of a crash, the fuel pump is shut off and the fuel injection valves actuated briefly

Two sensor control
- The effect of the catalytic converter is monitored by the signals from the O2 sensor upstream TWC [KAT] and by the signals from the O2 sensor downstream TWC [KAT]

Warm-up control
- The catalytic converter and the engine are brought rapidly to the operating temperature

Fan control
- The fan motor is actuated in two stages to reduce the coolant temperature

O2 sensor heater
- The O2 sensor heater brings the O2 sensor upstream TWC [KAT] and the O2 sensor downstream TWC [KAT] rapidly to the operating temperature

Catalytic converter heating up
- The catalytic converter is brought rapidly to the operating temperature

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Synchronization of the injection and firing order
- Synchronization is required to actuate the ignition coils and the fuel injection valves

Knock control
- Guarantees knock-free operation of the engine with various fuel qualities and under all operating conditions.

Overrun fuel shutoff
- The braking effect of the engine is increased in overrun mode and fuel consumption reduced

Camshaft adjustment
- Camshaft adjustment lowers the emission values and increases performance

Fuel regeneration
- Fuel vapors are fed to the engine for regeneration, which also prevents fuel vapors from escaping into the atmosphere

Boost pressure control
- The wastegate valve regulates the boost pressure of the turbocharger

Altitude adaptation
- The ambient pressure is measured by the integrated pressure sensor in the motor electronics control unit

European On-Board Diagnosis (EOBD)
- Continuously monitors all exhaust related systems and components
