Depending on the performance mapping, the motor electronics control unit decides whether to switch on the coolant fan motor in 2 different speed stages. According to the coolant temperature and operation of the AC system, the fan motor is switched on. Two-stage actuation is performed via fan stage 1 relay and fan stage 2 relay, both integrated in the fuse and relay module (K40/1).

The motor electronics control unit receives information on the status of the AC system via the CAN-C from the AAC control and operating unit. Lastly, the left SAM control unit actuates the relay in the fuse and relay module via the CAN-C at the request of motor electronics control unit.
