N3/10 Motor electronics control unit

Location

The motor electronics control unit is located at the front left in the engine compartment.

Task

The motor electronics control unit controls the ignition system, the gasoline injection system and the boost pressure of the turbocharger.

A pressure sensor is also integrated in the motor electronics control unit for measurement of the ambient pressure, which is required for altitude adaptation.

The motor electronics control unit is connected to the controller area network bus class C (engine compartment) (CAN-C) for the purpose of data exchange.

The motor electronics control unit reads in the signals from the following components directly:

 Knock sensor (A16)

 Hot film mass air flow sensor (B2/5)

 Camshaft Hall sensor (B6/1)

 Coolant temperature sensor (B11/4B11/)

 Accelerator pedal sensor (B37B37)

 Alternator (G2)

 O2 sensor downstream of TWC (G3/1)

 O2 sensor upstream of TWC (G3/2)

 Crankshaft rpm sensor (L8)

 Throttle valve actuator (M16/6)

 Ignition/starter switch (S2/1)

 Clutch pedal switch (S40/3)

 Gasoline/diesel engine relay (K40/1kF)

 Relay 1 fuel pump (K40/1kK)

 Throttle valve relay (K40/1kU)

 Throttle valve actuator (M16/6)

 Cylinder 1 ignition coil (T1/1)

 Cylinder 2 ignition coil (T1/2)

 Cylinder 3 ignition coil (T1/3)

 Cylinder 4 ignition coil (T1/4)

-The engine control control unit is enabled or blocked by the corresponding signals from the left SAM control unit (N10/10).

-Output of the corresponding diagnosis data via the data link connector (X11/4).
