The fuel pump is actuated:

At ignition ON for protection against flooding cylinders. The engine must be started before the fuel pump is actuated again. In order to achieve short start times, protection against flooding cylinders is required, in particular following long shut-off times.

During start operation by means of the first signals supplied by the crankshaft position sensor.

Function

Fuel pump actuation is controlled by the motor electronics control unit. The fuel pump relays in the fuse and relay module (K40/1) are actuated directly by the motor electronics control unit. If actuation is successful, the fuel pump is supplied with voltage.
