Function
TWC heating-up is designed to heat up the catalytic converters more rapidly to their operating temperature and thus to sharply reduce the exhaust gas emissions at cold start. Control of TWC heating -up is performed by the motor electronics control unit (N3/10).
In idle, the ignition timing point is delayed, according to the coolant temperature, detected by the coolant temperature sensor (B11/4) to increase the exhaust gas temperature.
By delaying the ignition timing point and the resultant combustion in the exhaust tract, the engine is heated rapidly.
The idle speed is adjusted in line with the coolant temperature.
