| Remove/install | ||
1 | Switch off ignition | ||
Danger! | Risk of injury caused by body parts being pinched or crushed as cab is tilted | Ensure that no one is within tilting range of cab as it is being tilted. Always tilt cab all the way to end position and secure with safety strut.
2 | Tilt cab | Installation: Only tilt cab back after leak test has been conducted.
| Notes on tilting the cab | ||
3 | Remove right soundproofing on frame
Danger! | Risk of injury to skin and eyes caused by scalding from contact with hot coolant spray. Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing coolant. | Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90°C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers. Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.
4 | Drain coolant | ||
| Notes on coolant | ||
5 | Unscrew oil filter cover (1.1) from oil filter housing (1) and remove | Engine oil runs from oil filter housing (1) back into the oil pan after pulling out the oil filter cover (1.1).
Installation: Install new sealing ring (1.2).
| |||
6 | Remove charge air pipe | Vehicles without code (MS8) Natural gas engine
Vehicles with code (MS8) Natural gas engine
7.1 | Remove intake hose (3) and suction hose (2) | Model 374, 375, 950, 952, 953, 954, 958, 970, 972, 974, 975, 976
Installation:Install intake hose (3) and suction hose (2) only after the oil circuit has been filled.
7.2 | Remove air intake pipe | Model 957 without code (MS8) Natural gas engine
Model 957 with code (MS8) Natural gas engine
Installation: Only install air intake pipe once the oil circuit has been filled.
8.1 | Disconnect electrical connector (7) on oil pressure and oil temperature combination sensor (B110) | For engine up to engine end no. 301561
8.2 | Disconnect electrical connector (4) on engine oil temperature sensor (B11) and on oil pressure sensor (B12) | For engine from engine end no. 301562
9 | Remove oil pressure line (5) on turbocharger | Catch any escaping engine oil and seal off oil holes.
Installation: Replace sealing rings.
| |||
| |||
10 | Remove cover (6) with heat exchanger (9) | Collect coolant and engine oil that flows out.
Installation: Install new gasket
| |||
11 | Remove cover (6) from heat exchanger (9) | Installation: Replace gasket (8).
| |||
12 | Install in the reverse order
13 | Filling the engine oil circuit
14 | Check engine oil level using oil dipstick or on display, correct if necessary | Observe engine oil grade set in maintenance system or Specifications for Operating Fluids.
Danger! | Risk of accident caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near the engine as it is running | Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself.
15 | Start engine and observe oil pressure gauge with the engine idling | Crank engine with the starter for not more than 90 seconds. Repeat starting procedure after a break of approx. 2 minutes at the earliest.
16 | Switch off engine and check for leaks | Visual inspection. |
