SI15.40-P-0008A | Service information: Changed ECO Start-Stop function | 27.1.10 |
ENGINES 266 in MODEL 169.031 /032 /331 /332, 245.231 /232 with CODE (B01) ECO start-stop function
As of model year 2010 (code 800) the following changes have been made to the Start-Stop function:
Discontinuity of braking condition during engine stop:
In order to keep the engine in stop mode, the brake pedal no longer has to be pressed continuously.
Introduction of readiness indicator:
The ECO-indicator in the IC indicates the readiness of the Start-Stop function. If the ECO-indicator does not appear, a Stop hinderer exists (e.g. engine temperature too low). Previously the ECO-indicator only appeared if the engine was in stop mode.
Driver recognition by means of seat belt buckle and door contact:
Previously the presence of the driver was determined by pressing the brake pedal. The engine was therefore also started if the driver had released the foot brake. With model year 2010 (code 800), the driver is recognized as present if the driver seat belt buckle is plugged in and the door is closed.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Important:
If the driver is not recognized (e.g. seat belt buckle not plugged in), the engine does not change over to stop mode.
If during engine-stop the driver is no longer recognized (e.g. the driver opens the driver door), the engine starts.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The stop hinderers can be read out from the engine control unit as of DAS software release 06/2009.
Reading out stop hinderers:
The item "Malfunction in the start-stop automatic" can be selected in DAS under ECU in menu item "Troubleshooting via complaints and symptoms".
A total of 5 driving cycles can be stored.
The data record designated as driving cycle 1 is the most current;driving cycle 5 is the oldest data record.
A maximum of 15 stop hinderers - data records are held for each driving cycle.
"Ignition ON/OFF" does not correspond to a driving cycle, driving cycle means engine running.
Only after "Ignition OFF" is the current driving cycle written into the memory.
The table displayed in the DAS should be interpreted as follows:
! No release for engine stop
OK Release for engine stop
Release conditions which have to be met for the automatic engine stop:
Engine release Coolant temperature more than 60 °C
NGS release Gearshift lever in neutral (after a bus "rest" the neutral of the gearshift lever must be initialized.
On-board electrical system release On-board electrical system voltage more than 12.5 V
ECO-switch Function indicator lamp comes on
Air conditioning Programmed interior temperature reached
Vacuum in brake booster OK.
Driver presence release (seat belt buckle plugged-in and driver door closed)
Engine hood locked
Outside temperature:
with Heatmatic or A/C (code 580) in range of
0 °C to 30 °C).
with AAC (code 581) in range of
-10 °C to 30 °C)
