Due to recent events, we would like to draw your attention to the following information concerning customer complaints about fabric and leather upholstery:
If, despite all efforts by the workshop, seat covers have to be replaced, these will continue to be inspected by the responsible warranty office.
Prior to replacing seat covers, it must therefore be ensured that the damage was not caused by the customer through soiling of the upholstery or due to normal wear and tear.
Discoloration of backrest, seat side bolster and sitting surface
Unwarranted seat cover complaints are frequently submitted through W&G. The seat covers exhibit partial discoloration, which was caused by extraneous cause/personal negligence on the part of the customer (see pictures).
Causes:
Discoloration may occur depending on the given frequency of use. The following are usage-related effects. Soiling (dust/soot), staining textiles, as well as streaks caused by excessive perspiration, can influence the appearance.
Important:
In the event of any uncertainty, please open a TIPS case.
The age and mileage of the vehicle must always be taken into account. Notes to the customer:
Dark covers must also be cleaned to remove any residual perspiration/grease.
Regular care and cleaning the covers using care products from Mercedes-Benz (e.g. upholstery leather cleaner A 001 986 59 71 11, stain remover A 001 986 25 71)
Note on cleaning:

Mechanical abrasion on seat backrest, side bolster and sitting surface
Unwarranted seat cover complaints are frequently submitted through W&G. The seat covers exhibit mechanical abrasion, which was caused by extraneous cause/personal negligence on the part of the customer (see pictures). Mechanical abrasion usually appears on individual specific surfaces.
Causes:
The action of entering and leaving a vehicle generally exerts a high level of stress and strains at specific points. Particularly critical here are lap seams, topstitching, trim with piping along with projecting and narrow areas.
Negatively influenced through factors such as various textile variants/jeans and pockets, metallic appliqués, driver stature (weight, size), vehicle concept (seat depth, sill width).
Important:
In the event of any uncertainty, please open a TIPS case.
The age and mileage of the vehicle must always be taken into account.
These causes may also occur on leather upholstery as well as on imitation leather upholstery. Notes to the customer:
Adaptation of entering/exiting behavior

Ripples/creases on front sitting surface and in rear passenger compartment
Please remember that leather upholstery is a natural product that undergoes natural aging and that certain environmental influences (e.g. high humidity, high temperatures) may cause the leather to react in different ways (heavy creasing).
Unwarranted seat cover complaints are frequently submitted through W&G. Where seat covers exhibit ripples/creases, these are usage-related or caused by extraneous cause/personal negligence on the part of the customer (see pictures).
Regular usage/strain of leather upholstery in combination with body moisture results in the material stretching, which in turn can realize a limited degree of resilience only (leather/natural product).
This then means that there may be change in look/haptics. Structural deviations are possible and typical for the item in question.
Causes:
Ripple/crease formation through overstretching/excessive stress caused by the customer's seating action as well as getting into and out of the vehicle.
Important:
In the event of any uncertainty, please open a TIPS case.
The age and mileage of the vehicle must always be taken into account.
The causes are exhibited on both leather upholstery and imitation leather upholstery. Notes to the customer:
Adaptation of sitting action.
Adaptation of entering/exiting behavior.
Reduction in ambient humidity leads to lesser increase in surface area.
