Please note the following points with regard to the map data and software "SD card navigation" update to improve customer satisfaction:
System components
This is based on code 506 (Audio 20 NTG 5.5 radio) and code 355 (Pre-installation for navigation retrofit).
The map data required for the navigation system and the navigation software are located on the SD card. For navigation the SD card must always be inserted, as only the navigation software is sent to the radio, not the map data.
When ordering with code 357 (Map navigation) ex factory, the SD card is included with the vehicle. By opening the SD card packaging, the customer accepts the licensing terms and conditions (see information on SD card packaging). When ordering with code 355 (Pre-installation for navigation retrofit), the SD card be procured from the parts department. Additional information is available in the ODUS system of MercedesBenz Accessories GmbH.
When retrofitting the SD card care must be taken to ensure that an initial SD card is ordered and not an update SD card. Furthermore, for the retrofit, code 357 (Card navigation) must be added to the vehicle data card in VeDoc. An initial SD card is always be used when commissioning.
Initial startup and copy protection
After confirmation, commissioning is conducted by inserting the initial SD card into the SD card slot and by selecting the navigation mode in the radio. After the system has restarted the terms of use must be accepted. Then the SD card is authorized for the respective vehicle and can then only be used in this vehicle. If an authorized SD card is used in another vehicle, a fault message appears.
Only use a genuine SD card that has been purchased through the MercedesBenz sales system.
When replacing the radio it is not necessary to purchase a new initial SD card.
Operating instructions
The operator's manual for "SD card navigation" is part of the vehicle operator's manual. There are no separate instructions.

Map data update (worldwide) by procuring an update SD card
An update SD card be procured for all markets in which "SD card navigation" is available through the parts department. Further information is available in the ODUS system at MercedesBenz Accessories GmbH.
Please note that an update SD card cannot be used to commission the navigation system. An initial SD card must be used for commissioning. Only then can an update SD card be used.
Navigation software update (worldwide) through XENTRY
The navigation software update (worldwide) can be performed by the supporting dealer and it is available through XENTRY free of charge.
When updating the radio it is advisable to update the navigation software too.
Map data update (worldwide) through the Download Manager
The map data update (worldwide) can be conducted during the Freshmap period by the customer himself or the supporting dealer, and it is available through the SD Card Navigation Download Manager, free of charge. For an update we recommend always using the latest version of the SD Card Navigation Download Manager. A requirement for this is that more up-to-date map data is available online.
Map data update during Freshmap period
A nonrecurring free of charge map data update (Freshmap) can be performed for the "SD Card Navigation". The map data can be updated up to 60 days after the first 322 in total driven kilometers, if new map data are available in the SD Card Navigation Download Manager.
A map update using the SD Card Navigation Download Manager is currently not possible once the "Freshmap" period has expired.
When handing over a new vehicle, the customer must be notified of this 60 day deadline in combination with the 322 km. An extension of this deadline is not possible. If requested by the customer, an update of the map data can be performed by the dealer during this time period. A cost settlement through warranty and goodwill is not possible.
Please note that by purchasing a new SD card update the customer is entitled to a map update during the time limit described above.
Preconditions and time required
The SD card must be authorized for the vehicle beforehand.
A map data update using the SD Card Navigation Download Manager may take several hours to complete. This is dependent on the required content and the bandwidth of the Internet connection.

The SD Card Navigation Download Manager can be used without any need for installation/administrator rights. It is advisable to use the XENTRY Tab. Dealers require an ODUS login to download the SD Card Navigation Download Manager. To use the SD Card Navigation Download Managers please enter "DLM" for both user name and password.

Additional Download Manager functions
A previous SD card status be restored using the Recovery menu item. The SD card must have previously been authorized for the vehicle and the authorized SD card must also have been used for the first-time with the SD Card Navigation Download Manager. This ensures that a fully operational SD card is documented by the system.
Please note that restoring the SD card may take several hours to complete.
