Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90°C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers. 1	Open maintenance flap
2	Unscrew cap (1).
3	Set temperature selection wheel for the heater to the max. heat output and switch on ignition

5	Remove soundproofing on frame below
6	Drain coolant at radiator	 To do this place drain hose on the drain fitting (3) and loosen drain screw (2). Collect coolant in clean container.
7	Drain coolant at crankcase	Loosen drain plug (4). Collect coolant in clean container.
8	Remove both retarder coolant hoses (5)	 Only on vehicles with code (BA9) Voith secondary retarder R 115.
		Collect coolant in clean container.
9	Remove heat exchanger drain plug (6) and drain off coolant	 Only on models fitted with code (BA1) Performance-optimized Voith retarder.
		Collect coolant in clean container.
10	Switch off ignition
	Filling
11	Attach both retarder coolant hoses (5)	 Only on vehicles with code (BA9) Voith secondary retarder R 115.
		Check retarder coolant hoses (5) and hose clamps for damage; replace if necessary.
12	Tighten drain plug on heat exchanger (6)	 Only on models fitted with code (BA1) Performance-optimized Voith retarder.

13	Tighten drain plug (4) on cylinder crankcase	 Replace sealing ring.

14	Tighten drain screw (2) on cooler and remove drain hose		*BA20.20-N-1001-01D
15	Check coolant for soiling	 In the case of strong soiling the coolant must generally be replaced; if necessary.: 
		Remove grease and scale in the cooling system	AR20.00-W-1030A
16	Check coolant with anti-freeze tester	 In the case of low antifreeze protection, replace the anti-frost protection part or replace the coolant.

17	Pour in coolant
 Danger!	Risk of accident caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near the engine as it is running	Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.	AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
18	Start engine and bleed cooling and heating system	 Run engine for about 5 minutes at varying rotational speeds. Top off coolant constantly to the bottom edge of the filler neck.
19	Turn off engine
20	Screw down cap (1)
21	Inspect cooling system for leaks	 Visual inspection
