Following "Ignition ON", the CDI control unit (N3/9) performs a function check. All functionally relevant display elements in the instrument cluster (A1) are actuated for approx. 1 second. If no system errors are present, the indicator and warning lamps go out and the vehicle is ready-to-stat.
Functions for "Ignition ON"
Engine control is supplied with voltage via circuit relay 87, engine (N10/1kl) from the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2).
For fuel prefeed, the fuel pump (M3) is actuated for approx. 30 seconds (only for first "Ignition ON")
For lamp control, the preglow indicator lamp (A1e16) and the engine diagnosis indicator lamp (A1e581) in the instrument cluster are actuated for approx. 1 second
Preglowing via actuation of the glow plugs (R9) via the glow time output stage (N14/3).
Data exchange via the Control Area Network (databus/CAN bus) (circuit 50 signal).
Fault memory can be read out and erased via the data link connector (X11/4).
Corrective programming can be carried out using STAR DIAGNOSIS via the diagnosis data link connector
