Series production breakpoint changed for EATU (1)
In series production vehicles with code M5Z (Engine version Euro VI) have had the modified EATU (1) installed for some time now. The series production breakpoints for this so-called EATU Generation II were as follows:
10/2013 code K7B (Exhaust system, bottom outlet, fan-type to right)
01/2014 code K7D (Exhaust system, tail pipe to outer right)
04/2014 code K7A (Exhaust system, tail pipe upwards)
Visual differentiating characteristic
The differentiating characteristic that is detected the quickest from the outside is that there is now only one instead of two temperature sensors installed at the front. The tensioning straps (3) by contrast do not reveal any information, because they are partly available on the old EATU units from Generation I, although their quick-release couplings were replaced as part of repair work.
Differences in detail
The differences of the previously installed Generation I EATUs are described below in detail in the BT document.
Important information on replacing EATU (1)
If an EATU (1) is replaced and as part of this procedure a Generation I is replaced by a Generation II, then the information listed in the BT document given below and the revised work instructions on replacing the EATU, on "transferring" the exhaust aftertreatment control unit (ACM) and the documentation in VeDoc for repair work on the exhaust aftertreatment system must be observed at all times, as otherwise consequential damage may be caused through an incorrectly conducted repair.
Example: Additional entries in VeDoc
In addition to the entries already available in VeDoc, revisions must also be made to the variant parts lists (SAA) when replacing an EATU (1). This is the only way of ensuring that the correct replacement parts can be located in the EPC at a later stage. See hereto also the appropriately adapted work instructions for documentation in VeDoc when conducting repair work on the EATS.
Example: "Transferring" the control unit and storing the control code U1R (Control code, AGN Box Wave 2)
As was previously the case, it is still necessary for the VeDoc Team to transfer the exhaust aftertreatment control unit (ACM), to ensure that the control unit software is able to perform updates in future. When replacing an EATU Generation I with Generation II the control code U1R (Control code, AGN Box Wave 2) is also stored. When replacing the software later on, XENTRY uses this control code to check which generation of the EATU (1) is installed in the vehicle, thereby enabling the correct software to be downloaded onto the exhaust aftertreatment control unit (ACM).
Update of software release on exhaust aftertreatment control unit (ACM)
After replacing an EATU, the software release on the exhaust aftertreatment control unit (ACM) is generally replaced. The new software has been available since XENTRY Update DVD 05/14 for vehicles denoted with EATU (1) Generation II and in VeDoc in accordance with code U1R (Control code, AGN Box Wave 2).
