Country light and curve illumination
General
Compared with conventional light distribution, country road mode illuminates the outer edge of the roadway more brightly and extensively.
Curve illumination follows the movement of the steering wheel.

Function requirements
Low beam ON or depending on the version of the LED headlamps high beam ON
Exterior lights switch in "Auto" position
Variable light distribution enabled
During country light mode and curve illumination, the following control variables are also taken into account:
Vehicle yaw behavior (vehicle movement)
Route driven (looking ahead) (vehicle with Driving Assistance Package)
Current traffic situation (e.g. preceding or oncoming vehicles)
Country light and curve illumination
During country road mode, the light distribution of the driving light is changed so that the outer edge of the roadway is better illuminated. Country road mode is activated at countryside-typical speeds. Due to the outer edge of the roadway being better illuminated, potential hazards, for example varying types of wild animals, can be detected from even a great distance.
During curve illumination, the light distribution of the driving light is adapted according to steering wheel movements, and therefore the direction of travel.
Visually, the light cones of the driving light are swiveled in the direction of the curve center point.
The direct variable of curve illumination is the steering angle. The speed influences the control response (conversion of steering angle to swivel angle). At low speed, a small conversion is required so that the light pattern does not behave in a jumpy manner (e.g. in urban traffic). At moderate speeds, relatively small changes in steering angle trigger immediate responses. At higher speeds, these responses are severely dampened again. In order to adjust for vehicle weaving when driving straight ahead, an area with lower sensitivity and increased dampening is implemented.
