This Service Information is only valid for workshops that have authorization to install the toll system from Toll Collect.
We have created the following installation instructions for retrofitting the toll system (automatic recording of freeway tolls).

All times do not include test driving vehicle for initializing the GPS receiver and instructing the customer on the use of the toll system device.
Performing a test drive: Drive at least 2000 meters with a minimum of 30 km/h in each of the compass directions (N, S, E, W)

Siemens VDO toll recording devices
The Siemens VDO toll recording device (vehicle device 1372) is to be installed as per the instructions included in the installation kit.
Furthermore, the following information is to be observed:
ACTROS, 950 - 954
In order to ensure that the controls can be accessed from the driver seat, the vehicle device (1) must be installed as far to the left of vehicle center as possible as per the permissible dimension (dimension A). The best installation position can be reached by using a 20° bracket with both of the bracket's feet pointing towards the cabs interior.
Dimension a =300 mm
Contrary to the installation instructions that were published up to now (where the milage signal is taken directly from the tachograph), the milage signal can also be taken from the maintenance system control unit (WS)
(plug X1, chamber 18/15).

ACTROS, 930 - 934
The installation clearance of the vehicle device to the windshield can be larger than what is stated in the instructions from Siemens VDO.
The vehicle device (1) is to be installed at the very left of the dashboard's center shelf so that the smallest distance to the windshield can be reached. In order to achieve this, the rubber insert located in the shelf must be cut out in the area of the feet. The best installation position can be reached by using a 20° bracket with both of the bracket's feet pointing towards the windshield.

The installation distance of the vehicle device to the center of the vehicle can be larger than what is stated in the instructions from Siemens VDO.
The vehicle device (1) is to be installed to the left of the stowage compartment or folding table so that the compartment can still be opened. The best installation position can be reached by using a 10° bracket with both of the bracket's feet pointing towards the windshield.
