We would like to notify you here of the deactivation process for the HERMES control unit (N112/9).

This is generally applicable information.
Because of a new EU regulation, all new vehicles (passenger cars and commercial vehicles with vehicle categories M1 and N1) must be equipped for the first time type-approval certificate after 31.03.2018 with an E-call system. The HERMES control unit (N112/9) on these vehicles must not be deactivated as this infringes against applicable EU law.
The vehicle models listed in this Service Information bulletin are not affected as they were certified for the first time before 31.03.2018. Before deactivating a HERMES control unit (N112/9) the legal department at the respective national organization should clarify whether and under which circumstances the deactivation process may be conducted. If a deactivation is not permitted for legal reasons, the HERMES control unit (N112/9) may not be deactivated.
Please notify the customer that after deactivation, an automatic emergency call (from the vehicle) and a manual emergency call (from the customer) can no longer be transmitted.
After deactivation, the Mercedes me connect services or the Mercedes PRO connect services are no longer available either.
To enable deactivation to be conducted through XENTRY Diagnosis, the code O92 (Deactivation of communication module) must be entered beforehand in the vehicle's data card. To do so, a ticket has to be created in the "XENTRY Support & Feedback" (XSF) system in event category "Software retrofit", which is available in the application list in the AfterSales Portal.
Please fill out the certificate (OF82.85-S-0000-01B) together with the customer after notifying the customer about the effects of the deactivation, sign it and then attach it for documentation in a tamperproof manner to the XSF ticket to be created.
At the same time, 2 adhesive labels (A 907 817 29 00 26) must be ordered through the parts ordering process stating the VIN.
If the certificate is completely filled out and signed when the XSF is received, and the adhesive labels orders received is available, the code O92 (Deactivation of communication module) is entered in the data card and the order for the adhesive labels is approved.
After being received from the company-owned sales and service outlet/agency, these adhesive labels are to be attached to the emergency call system button on the overhead control panel and the emergency call system button. Pictures of the overhead control panel are to be attached to the repair order for documentation in a tamperproof manner.
The following operation steps must then be conducted in the workshop using XENTRY Diagnosis:
1 Connect XENTRY Diagnosis.
2 Select HERMES control unit (N112/9).
3 Perform "deactivation" in the HERMES control unit (N112/9).
To do so, select the menu item Adaptations Teach-in processes and follow the give instructions.
Once deactivation has been successfully performed, the HERMES control unit (N112/9) has an "Out of service" operating status. The display of the audio component shows "SOS not ready".
