Checking coolant during workshop visit
On vehicles which have a mileage of more than 50,000 km and which visit the workshop before the time-based servicing scheme J1 is reached, the adhesive label (10) behind the maintenance flap must be checked.
If the check date entered on the adhesive label (10) has been reached or no coolant check has yet been documented with an adhesive label (10), documentation must be performed in accordance with AP20.00W1100H.
If the color of the coolant sample taken is found to match the comparison specimens (3, 4):
Pour in coolant again and correct the coolant level; when doing so, check the antifreeze protection and correct if necessary.
The corrosion and antifreeze agent content by volume must be between 50 and 55%. This corresponds to an antifreeze protection of -37 to -45 °C.
If the color of the coolant sample taken is found to match the comparison specimens (5, 6, 7, 8):
For further steps, see SI20.00-W-0010A Service Information: Flush engine cooling system, subject to separate repair order.
The adhesive label (10) must then be labeled with the next check date in three months (interval between two coolant checks is therefore at least 3 months) in the format MM/YYYY and attached behind the maintenance flap at the position shown.
The "At km reading" field is not filled out.
This should help to ensure that the interval between 2 coolant checks is at least 3 months.
When performing and documenting the coolant check, operation item 20 1144 (Check coolant for contamination (for work on vehicle) veh. with code B3H) can be applied during the course of a workshop visit. The cost settlement is made using damage code 20035 B1. This cost acceptance is guaranteed for 7 years or up to 800,000 km, whichever comes first.
