General information
Comfort closing always causes the driver and passenger doors to be locked first, which, in contrast to vehicles with central locking (CL) can also be accomplished with the aid of the radio remote control (2) in addition to with the vehicle key or with the two unlock/lock buttons (S140s5, S141s3) (see function description "Central locking (CL), function").
After locking the vehicle doors, the side windows in the driver and passenger doors and the tilting/sliding roof can also be closed with the vehicle key in the driver door lock or the radio remote control (2).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Requirements
The ignition is switched off.
The driver and passenger door are closed and unlocked.
The tilting/sliding roof lock is deactivated (indicator LED in button in tilting/sliding roof lock (S91) in switch module 10
roof (A83) does not come on), so that the tilting/sliding roof can be closed.
If the passenger door is open during a locking operation, it is locked after closing (relocked).
If the driver door is open during a locking operation, it is not locked after closing (to prevent locking out).
If both doors are open, they not locked.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Comfort closing with vehicle key
When the driver and passenger door are locked with the central locking (CL), the vehicle door in whose lock the vehicle key is turned to the lock position, is always locked first and then the opposite vehicle door.
Additional comfort closing of both sides windows and tilting/sliding roof can only be activated with the vehicle key and exclusively via the driver door lock.
Locking with driver door lock is described below:
If the vehicle key it turned to the stop toward right (arrow) to the lock position in the driver door lock, the driver door locking motor (M11) is actuated mechanically via a linkage and the driver door is unlocked.
The locking operation is sensed by the driver door module (TMF) (A66) via a switch in the driver door locking motor (M11) actuating it electronically so that the motor drive for the driver door locking motor (M11) also moves to the lock position, where the tappet is located.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is made possible by mechanically decoupling the motor drive and tappet.
After the drive door is locked successfully, the driver door module (TMF) (A66) transmits a corresponding
CAN message to the interior CAN (CAN 2).
The base module (BM) [GM] (A7) reads in this CAN message and interrupts actuation of the interior lamps unless they are actuated presently.
Moreover, the driver door module (TMF) (A66) outputs a CAN message to lock the passenger door to the interior CAN (CAN 2).
The passenger door module control unit (TMB) (A67) reads in the
CAN message to lock the passenger door and electronically actuates the passenger door locking motor (M12), which locks the passenger door.
The passenger door module control unit (TMB) (A67) recognizes when the passenger door is locked successfully via a switch in the passenger door locking motor and transmits a corresponding CAN message to the interior CAN (CAN 2).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
During the entire locking operation the driver door module (TMF) (A66) monitors permanently the switch status of the driver door lock switch (S87).
If the vehicle key is held in the lock position beyond the locking time (without interruption, for longer than 3 s), the driver door module (TMF) (A66) recognizes actuation of the comfort closing for both windows and the tilting/sliding roof is activated.
It is not necessary to hold the vehicle key in the locking position to continue the comfort closing function.
The driver door module (TMF) (A66) outputs the
CAN messages to close the passenger door side windows and tilting/sliding roof to the interior CAN (CAN 2) and electronically actuates the driver door power window motor (M7),which completely closed the driver door side window. The passenger door module control unit (TMB) (A67) reads in the CAN message to close the passenger door side window and electronically actuates the passenger door power window motor (M8), which completely closes the passenger door side window.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The closing operation of the two side windows is monitored by the corresponding control unit and interrupted in the case of pinching. The corresponding side window is opened automatically by an adjustable distance.
If both side windows are closed, both control units transmit a corresponding CAN message on the entire locking status of the driver and passenger door to the interior CAN (CAN 2).
Simultaneously the base module (BM) [GM] (A7) receives
the CAN message to close the tilting/sliding roof via interior CAN (CAN 2) and electronically actuates the tilting/sliding roof motor (M6) until the tilting/sliding roof is completely closed.
The vehicle is now completely locked.
On vehicles with code (FZ5) Anti-theft alarm system with load compartment motion sensor (EDW) or with code (FZ8) Anti-theft alarm system (ATA) without interior protection, the base module (BM) [GM] (A7) additionally activates the anti-theft alarm system (ATA).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Comfort closing with radio remote control (2)
The radio remote control (2) always actuates the central locking (CL) in the driver and passenger door and the additional comfort closing for the two side widows and tilting/sliding roof.
The only difference to comfort closing with the vehicle key is, that the driver door module (TMF) (A66) receives the information for comfort closing from the base module (BM) [GM] (A7).
When lock button the radio remote control (2) is actuated, the base module (BM) [GM] (A7) receives a radio signal for comfort closing.
The base module (BM) [GM] (A7) generates a corresponding
CAN message and outputs it to the interior CAN (CAN 2), where it is available for the driver door module (TMF) (A66).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The driver door module (TMF) (A66) electronically actuates the driver door locking motor (M11), which locks the driver door.
Then the passenger door and the two side windows as well as the
tilting/sliding roof are closed automatically with the vehicle key in the same manner as during comfort closing.
On vehicles with code (FZ5) Anti-theft alarm system with load compartment motion sensor (EDW) or with code (FZ8) Anti-theft alarm system (ATA) without interior protection, the base module (BM) [GM] (A7) additionally activates the anti-theft alarm system (ATA).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After successful comfort closing with the radio remote control (2), the driver door module (TMF) (A66) transmits a CAN message to output a visual status feedback (by actuating the turn signal lamps) to the base module (BM) [GM] (A7).
The base module (BM) [GM] (A7) then outputs the CAN messages for actuating the turn signal lamps three times to the interior CAN (CAN 1) and frame CAN (CAN 3).
The messages are transmitted via interior CAN (CAN 1) to the instrument (INS) (P2), when electronically actuates the following lamps:
- the left vehicle turn signal indicator lamp (P2h2) and, with additional trailer operation, the left trailer turn signal indicator lamp (P2h4)
- the right vehicle turn signal indicator lamp (P2h3) and, with additional trailer operation, the right trailer turn signal indicator lamp (P2h5)
The CAN messages are transmitted to the front module (FM) (A64) and rear module (HM) (A65) via the frame-CAN (CAN 3).
The front module (FM) electronically actuates the turn signal lamp (E8e1) in the left lamp unit (E8), the turn signal lamp (E20e1) in the left combined turn signal and clearance lamp (E20), the turn signal lamp (E9e1) in the right lamp unit (E9) and the turn signal lamp (E21e1) in the right combined turn signal and clearance lamp (E21) with its own output stages.
The rear module (HM) (A65) electronically actuates the turn signal lamp (E3e5) in the left taillamp (E3) and the turn signal lamp (E4e5) in the right taillamp (E4) with its own output stages.
