Danger !

Risk of injury from being trapped in the swivel range of steered axles

Ensure that no persons or objects are in the swivel range of all steered axles when turning the steering wheel. Do not stand in the swivel range of the additional steering axle when the engine is running.

AS46.00-Z-0002-01A

Danger !

Risk of death caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off during lifting

Only lift vehicle at the lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.

AS00.00-Z-0032-01A

Danger !

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

AS00.00-Z-0005-01A

Danger !

Risk of death from lowering vehicle when working between wheels and body. Risk of injury from pinching or crushing when working on the air suspension.

Testing and repair work between the wheel and wheel arch or in the wheel well should only be performed if the vehicle is secured using suitable support fixtures to prevent it from lowering.
Adjustment operations should only be performed from underneath the vehicle.
Use only suitable support fixtures to secure the vehicle frame or vehicle axles in order to prevent them from lowering.
If necessary, additionally use suitable support fixtures in order to prevent other moving vehicle parts that are in the working area from lowering, or use suitable retaining devices to prevent these parts from moving suddenly and without warning.
Secure areas with moving vehicle parts against unauthorized access.

Remove

1

Secure vehicle at rear axle using wheel chocks to prevent it from rolling away.

2

Raise vehicle at front and jack up on frame

Raise vehicle only far enough until the air suspension bellows (1) can be removed.

3

Switch on ignition

4

Completely lower vehicle level at front axle using level control operating unit

To depressurize the air suspension bellows on the front axle.

5

Switch off ignition

6

Turn steering to full left lock

Only when the air suspension bellows (1) mounted on the steering have been removed so that the bolt (6) can be accessed.

7

Release soundproofing (2) from bolt (4)

Only when the compressed air connector (3) is covered up by the soundproofing (2).

8

Remove compressed-air connector (3)

AR42.10-W-0900C

9

Remove nut (5)

10

Remove bolt (6)

11

Remove air suspension bellows (1)

Do not apply mechanical force to the air suspension bellows (1) or piston.
Otherwise, the air suspension bellows (1) or piston may be damaged.

Install

12

Clean contact surfaces of air suspension bellows (1) on air suspension bellows carrier and on plate at top

Check

18

Switch on ignition

19

Slightly raise vehicle at front axle using level control operating unit, and then lower again onto jack stands

Only lower far enough until the vehicle is seated on the jack stands again. The air suspension bellows on the front axle must have pressure applied to them for the leak test.
If necessary, start the engine and completely fill the compressed air system at idle speed.

20

Switch off ignition

21

Check compressed air connector (3) for leaks

Use commercially available leak detector spray.

22

Raise vehicle at front, remove jack stands and lower vehicle

23

Switch on ignition
