Remove/install air spring bellows at rear axle

W32.22-1050-09

1

Air suspension bellows

3

Clamp

B20

Left drive axle pressure sensor (only with code J3Z (Axle load measuring system) or code Q3Z (Frame lowering, with residual bellows pressure regulation) or code S1F (Roll Control Assist))

2

Compressed air connector

4

Pin

B21

Right drive axle pressure sensor (only with code J3Z (Axle load measuring system) or code Q3Z (Frame lowering, with residual bellows pressure regulation) or code S1F (Roll Control Assist))

Danger

Risk of death from lowering vehicle when working between wheels and body. Risk of injury from pinching or crushing when working on the air suspension.

Testing and repair work between the wheel and wheel arch or in the wheel well should only be performed if the vehicle is secured using suitable support fixtures to prevent it from lowering.
Adjustment operations should only be performed from underneath the vehicle.
Use only suitable support fixtures to secure the vehicle frame or vehicle axles in order to prevent them from lowering.
If necessary, additionally use suitable support fixtures in order to prevent other moving vehicle parts that are in the working area from lowering, or use suitable retaining devices to prevent these parts from moving suddenly and without warning.
Secure areas with moving vehicle parts against unauthorized access.

AS32.22-Z-0001-01A

Danger

Risk of death caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off during lifting

Only lift vehicle at the lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.

6

Remove left drive axle pressure sensor (B20) or right drive axle pressure sensor (B21).

Only on vehicles with code J3Z (Axle load measuring system), or with code Q3Z (Frame lowering, with residual bellows pressure regulation), or with code S1F (Roll Control Assist).

7

Remove compressed-air connector (2)

8

Remove clip (3)

9

Raise vehicle at the rear by the frame and support

Only if the air suspension bellows (1) cannot be removed.

10

Remove air suspension bellows (1)

Do not exert mechanical force on the air suspension bellows (1).
The air suspension bellows (1) may be damaged by this.

Install

11

Insert air suspension bellows (1)

Do not exert mechanical force on the air suspension bellows (1).
The air suspension bellows (1) may be damaged by this.

Make sure that the pin (4) for locating the air suspension bellows (1) is seated in the hole. Do not pull the air suspension bellows (1) apart.

12

Lower vehicle at rear by frame

Only if the vehicle was raised at the rear by the frame.

13

Install clamp (3)

14

Attach compressed air connector (2)

15

Install left drive axle pressure sensor (B20) or right drive axle pressure sensor (B21)

Only on vehicles with code J3Z (Axle load measuring system), or with code Q3Z (Frame lowering, with residual bellows pressure regulation), or with code S1F (Roll Control Assist).

Use new O-ring.

16

Install wheels on rear axle
