| Remove | ||
1 | Perform guided test on fully integrated transmission control unit (VGS) (N15/11n4) using vehicle diagnosis system.
| Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory | ||
Before removal of the fully integrated transmission control (VGS) electric controller unit (N15/11) the guided test must be conducted with the diagnostic system, and the characteristics stored in the fully integrated transmission control unit (N15/11n4) transferred.
2 | Remove fully integrated transmission control (VGS) electric controller unit (N15/11).
| |||
| Disassemble/assemble | ||
3 | Remove bolts (1). | Bolt, leaf spring for solenoid valve to timing case
4 | Remove leaf springs (2).
5 | Remove all control solenoid valves.
| Automatic transmission fluids (ATF) (specification 236.15) | ||
Assembly: | |||
Assembly: Always install each control solenoid valve in its original installation position again. Moisten the sealing rings with transmission oil.
| Check | ||
6 | Determine degree to which control solenoid valves are soiled. | If traces of wear debris or fouling are present (picture A, picture B).
| |||
Rinse all control solenoid valves.
If more than 4 control solenoid valves are defective or soiled.
| |||
Notify Market Performance Center (MPC) or general distributor, they will then determine how to proceed further
If no traces of wear debris or soiling are present (picture C).
| |||
Flushing not required.
| Clean | ||
7 | Clean sieves of all control solenoid valves.
| Automatic transmission fluids (ATF) (specification 236.15) | ||
| |||
Clean the sieves carefully using a magnet. Then clean the sieves by rinsing them in fresh transmission oil until the wear debris and dirt are removed.
| Check | ||
8 | Check that control solenoid valves are clean and undamaged. | If no soiling or damage is visible (picture B, picture C).
| |||
Control solenoid valves can be reused.
If soiling or damage is visible (picture A).
| |||
Replace affected control solenoid valves
| Clean | ||
9 | Clean seats of control solenoid valves and shifting channels in fully integrated transmission control (VGS) electric controller unit (N15/11). | Pulling the control solenoid valves out of the fully integrated transmission control (VGS) electric controller unit (N15/11) causes abrasion or dirt particles to fall into the channel below. This must be removed from the fully integrated transmission control (VGS) electric controller unit (N15/11) with the aid of a magnet or using a pipette.
10 | Remove magnet (6) of shift valve (6a) a few millimeters and clean. | Use a lint-free rag to remove shavings and wear debris from magnet (6) of shift valve (6a).
Assembly: Check shift valve (6a) is correctly seated in fully integrated transmission control (VGS) electric controller unit (N15/11).
11 | Assemble in the reverse order.
| Install | ||
12 | Install fully integrated transmission control (VGS) electric controller unit (N15/11).
Throughly clean oil pan and magnet of oil pan, then replace oil filter.
13 | Perform gear selection adaptation of replaced control solenoid valves using vehicle diagnosis system. | Only if the affected control solenoid valves have been replaced.
| Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory | ||
After the control solenoid valves have been replaced, the corresponding gears must be adapted:
The adaptation values for the fully integrated transmission control (VGS) electric controller unit (N15/11n4) may not be reset. |
