Danger !

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

AS00.00-Z-0005-01A

Danger !

Risk of explosion caused by fuel igniting. Risk of injury to skin and eyes caused by fuel spraying out at high pressure

Remove all ignition sources from hazard area.
Do not carry out any work on system when it is pressurized.

AS07.16-Z-0001-01A

Danger !

Risk of injury. Skin or eye injuries may result when handling hot or glowing objects.

Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses, if necessary.

Remove/install

1

Bring engine up to operating temperature (approx. 80°C)

Only check compression pressure for an engine is at operating temperature.

2

Turn off engine

3

Remove engine cover

Installation: Ensure correct seating of the engine cover.

4

Detach fuel filter with attached fuel lines and place to one side

5

Remove glow plugs

AR15.20-P-4111OLD

6

Crank engine with starter

AR01.10-P-0110OLD

Do not crank engine using the ignition key in electronic ignition lock control unit but use contact switch for compression recorder (1).

Crank engine several times to eliminate combustion residues in the cylinder.

7

Attach screw-in piece with check valve installed into glow plug hole for cylinder to be checked

Check

9

Check compression pressure

Crank engine with starter

AR01.10-P-0110OLD

Do not crank engine using the ignition key in electronic ignition lock control unit; use contact switch for compression recorder instead.

To check compression pressure, the engine must be turned over using the starter for at least eight revolutions.

10

Carry out testing procedure in the cylinder order on remaining cylinders in the same way

11

Compare pressure readings obtained with test values

Installation tolerance or new value of compression pressure

*BE01.00-P-1001-01A

Wear limit or limit value of compression pressure

*BE01.00-P-1002-01A
