Danger! | Risk of injury to skin and eyes caused by handling hot or glowing objects. | Wear safety gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses, if necessary.
Danger! | Risk of accident caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near the engine as it is running | Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself.
Danger! | Risk of injury to skin and eyes caused by scalding from contact with hot coolant spray. Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing coolant. | Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90°C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers. Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.
1 | Warm up engine to normal operating temperature | Coolant temperature 60 to 80°C. Only check cylinder for leaks when the engine is at normal operating temperature.
2 | Remove spark plugs | ||
3 | Open cap (3) on expansion reservoir | Turn cap (3) on expansion reservoir anti-clockwise by half a revolution, release overpressure, then unscrew cap on expansion reservoir (3).
4 | Remove oil filler cap (2)
| Checking | ||
5 | Position piston of cylinder to be checked at top dead center (OT) | Aid of helper required. The intake and exhaust valves must be closed during this process. This can be checked using the TDC seeking device. The top dead center seeking device is an integral part of the cylinder leakage tester (1).
