Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Remove/install

Switch off ignition

Open maintenance flap

Discharge compressed-air system

Remove trim grille

Pull out master cylinder with attached hydraulic line from pedal bracket (3) and fasten at side

Unlock and detach connector (5) using a suitable tool

Detach electrical connection from switch 1, clutch pedal (S85)

Only for vehicles without code GE1 (Automatic gear control (AGS)).

Remove all cable ties on the compressed air lines (2)

 Installation: Replace cable tie.

Detach compressed air lines (2) from Central Brake Unit (CBU) (A110)

With "VOSS 230" compressed air connector

With VOSS "232" or SCHÄFER "SDF" compressed air connector

 Mark installation position of compressed air lines (2).

 Installation: Check O-rings and replace if necessary. Note compressed air line (2) markings.

Unlock and detach connector (4) using a suitable tool

Release coolant expansion reservoir (1) at top front plate and push to one side

 If necessary, detach electrical connection from coolant level switch.

Remove pedal bracket (3) towards front

 Installation: Check seal on pedal bracket (3) for damage, replace if necessary.

 Pedal bracket to firewall

Detach electrical connection from switch 2, clutch pedal (S89)

Only for vehicles without code GE1 (Automatic gear control (AGS)).

Install in the reverse order

Start engine and completely inflate air brake system with idle speed

Switch off ignition

Check compressed air lines (2) for leaks

Leak detection spray
