Warning | Risk of injury caused by pinching or crushing when working on springs or spring bodies that are under tension | Use only approved tensioning devices; additionally screen off hazardous area if necessary. Check special tools for damage and proper operation (visual inspection). Wear protective gloves.
Warning | Risk of injury caused by body parts being pinched or crushed as cab is tilted | Ensure that no one is within the tilting range of the cab as it is being tilted. Always tilt the cab all the way to the end position and secure with the safety strut.
Topical note | Notes on tilting the cab
| Remove | ||
1 | Tilt cab. | ||
2 | Slacken off the poly-V-belt (1, 5) and remove it from the tensioner pulley (2) or tensioner pulley (7).
| Check | ||
3 | Check belt tensioner (A) or (B) for mechanical damage. | Mechanical damage may involve: Fracture or crack in tensioner pulley or tensioning arm, oil leak, immobile dampers, radial play or a irregular running of tensioner pulley (7).
If mechanical damage is detected,
| |||
replace corresponding belt tensioner (A, B).
| |||
| |||
4 | Check end play between tensioning arm (10) and carrier plate (9) of belt tensioner (A, B) using feeler gauge (12). | An axial play is always noticeable on the belt tensioner (A, B). The component part may only be replaced if the criteria listed below are met.
Permissible end play between clamping arm and carrier plate of belt tensioner
If the permissible end play is not exceeded,
| |||
leave the belt tensioner (A, B) in the vehicle.
If the permissible end play is exceeded,
| |||
replace the belt tensioner (A) or (B).
| |||
| |||
5 | Check poly-V-belts (1, 5) for damage and wear; replace if necessary.
| Damage profiles for a poly-V belt | ||
6 | Check the guide pulleys (3, 4, 8) for mechanical damage. | An axial play on guide pulleys (3, 4, 8) is design specific and therefore always noticeable. The component parts may only be replaced if the criteria listed below are met.
If the guide pulleys (3, 4, 8) exhibit obvious damage such as, e.g. fracturing or cracks,
| |||
replace corresponding guide pulley (3, 4, 8).
| Install | ||
7 | Mount poly-V-belt (1, 5).
