AN43.40-W-1001-02PR | Install electrical wiring harness for permanent magnet retarder into cab | ||
Danger! | Risk of death caused by working on permanent magnet retarder for groups of persons with implants. Risk of injury caused by burns that may occur due to contact with the hot rotor. | For persons with implants, a minimum distance of 30 cm between the permanent magnet retarder and the body parts of the affected person is to be maintained as a safe distance from the permanent magnet retarder. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. |

Overview of electrical wiring harness
1 Electrical wiring harness (cab permanent magnet retarder)
A7 X9 Connector (base module connector)
A Relay holder (A31)
B Fuse holder (A1)
C Connector (switch for permanent magnet retarder deactivation of brake pedal (S201))
D Connector for operating lever for engine brake/permanent brake
A22 X4 Connector (Connector for parameterizable special module (PSM) control unit)
X2.1 Cab-chassis connector
XB.31.R Right ground weld
Depending on the vehicle equipment various fuse holders (A1) (B), relay holders (A31) (A) or connector housings for individual connectors, e.g. (A7 X9) may already be installed in the vehicle. Where this is the case they have to be detached from the electrical wiring harness (1) (cab permanent magnet retarder) and the electrical lines plugged into the existing relay holder (A31) (A), fuse holder (A1) (B) or the connector housing for the individual connectors, e.g. (A7 X9) as per the connection diagram.
In the event that the free slots are still available on the holder (8), it is then possible to augment the existing relay holder (A31) (A), fuse holder (A1) (B) by installing an additional relay holder (A31) (A), fuse holder (A1) (B).
Before inserting the electrical lines into the connector housing they have to be released first and then locked again.

1 Open maintenance flap (2).
2 Remove trim grille (3).
3 Remove air intake pipe (4).
4 Remove cover (5).
W43.40-1054-11
5 Pry out switch unit (6) using assembly wedge.
W43.40-1055-06
6 Remove bolts (7).
7 Fold base module (GM) (A7) downwards.
W43.40-1056-05
8 Insert relay holder (A31) (A) into holder strip (8).
9 Route electrical wiring harness (1) along the existing electrical lines and fix in place using cable tie.
W43.40-1057-05
10 Insert relay (9, 10, 11) into relay holder (A31) (A).
If the electrical lines and the relay are connected to/used on the vehicle in a manner other than described in the connection diagram, then this must be documented on the overview of the assignment plan.
W43.40-1058-05
11 Remove fuse holder (A1) (B).
Only if the fuse holder (A1) (B) installed in the vehicle is used.
12 Route electrical lines (12, 13) along the existing electrical lines and fix in place using cable tie.
13 Install electrical line BK (12) into Pin 15 of fuse holder (A1) (B).
14 Install electrical line BK/WH (13) into Pin 16 of fuse holder (A1) (B).
W43.40-1059-05
15 Insert fuse 10 A (14) into slot F8 of the fuse holder (A1) (B).
16 Insert fuse holder (A1) (B) into holder strip (8).
If the vehicle's slot for the central locking fuse, terminal 15 (fuse holder A1) (F8-A24) is occupied by the fuse for the central locking, then the electrical lines (12, 13) can be double-crimped with the existing electrical lines of the central locking fuse.
Or a free position for the permanent magnet retarder fuse on the fuse holder (A1) (B) can be used. This must be documented on the overview of the assignment plan.
