General
Function
General
Four electrohydraulic controller units are installed in the vehicle - two per axle. Each electrohydraulic controller unit is located in the vicinity of the wheel.
The electrohydraulic controller unit basically consists of the following components:
Hydraulic pump
Integrated control unit
Integrated pressure sensors
Integrated temperature sensors
The electrohydraulic controller unit supplies the hydraulic dampers of the electrohydraulic suspension with hydraulic fluid. By actuation of the electrohydraulic controller unit, the hydraulic fluid can be moved according to requirements in order to support and damp the vehicle body.
Function
The air suspension control unit actuates the electrohydraulic controller units at each of the four wheels.
In each hydraulic damper, an adjustable throttle valve and a hydraulic accumulator are installed at the piston space and at the annular space.
When an electrohydraulic controller unit is actuated, the integrated hydraulic pump moves the hydraulic fluid between the annular space and the piston space in the connected hydraulic damper. A pressure difference can be set here inside the hydraulic damper. This pressure difference generates a force at the piston of the hydraulic damper, that is set to ensure that the required dampening effect is achieved on the vehicle body.
In order to carry out this function, the electrohydraulic controller unit mainly processes the following input factors:
Actuation from air suspension control unit
Signal from left front body lateral acceleration sensor
Signal from right front body lateral acceleration sensor
Signal from rear body acceleration sensor
Signal from left front level sensor
Signal from right front level sensor
Signal from left rear level sensor
Signal from right rear level sensor
Signal from lateral acceleration sensorThe electrohydraulic controller unit processes these input factors and sends the actuation to the respectively assigned damping valve unit. The following actuations then take place at all four wheels on the vehicle:
Left front axle damping valve unit
Right front axle damping valve unit
Left rear axle damping valve unit
Right rear axle damping valve unit
