No fires, sparks, open flames or smoking. Pour fuels into suitable and appropriately marked containers only.
Wear protective clothing when handling fuel.

Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 °C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.

Remove/install

Drain off coolant.

Remove the exhaust gas recirculation valve.

Remove electrical connector from the fuel temperature sensor.

 Do not remove fuel temperature sensor.

Remove fuel lines (9) at engine side.


Seal connections.
Otherwise the fuel system may be contaminated.

 Removal: Collect escaping fuel.

 Record plug

Remove fuel lines (9) from the coolant pipe (1).

 To do this, remove fuel lines (9) from the retaining clips and position fuel lines (9) outside of the working area.

 Installation: Check retaining clips for damage.

If damage exists,



replace affected retaining clips.

Remove screws (8).

Remove hoses (11, 12, 14) from the coolant pipe (1).

Model 470 with engine 699.304/305

 To do this, remove hoses (11, 12, 14) from the retaining clips (16) and position hoses (11, 12, 14) outside of the working area.

 Installation: Check the retaining clips (16) for damage.

If damage exists,



replace the affected retaining clips (16).

Unscrew bolt (4).

Remove hoses (2, 5) from the coolant pipe (1).

Hose clamp pliers with wire cable

 Installation: Check clamps for damage.

If damage exists,



replace affected clamps.

Remove hose (15) from the coolant pipe (1).

 Installation: Check clamp for damage.

If damage exists,

Replace clamp.

Remove hose (6) from the cooler.

If damage exists,

Replace clamp.

Remove hose (7) from the coolant filler neck.

 Commercially available devices/tools

 Installation: Check clamp for damage.

If damage exists,

Replace clamp.

Remove screws (13) from the coolant pipe (1).

Remove electrical wiring harness (10) from coolant pipe (1).

 Installation: Check retaining clips for damage.

If damage exists,



Replace retaining clip.

Remove coolant pipe (1).

 Removal: To do this, remove coolant pipe (1) with hose (3) at the engine side.

 Commercially available devices/tools
Hose clamp pliers with wire cable

 Installation: Check clamp for damage.

If damage exists,



Replace clamp.

Change hoses (3, 7).

If a new coolant pipe (1) is installed.

 Installation: Check clamps for damage.

Install in the reverse order.

Check engine cooling system for leak tightness.
