Bleeding | |||
1 | Check coolant level, correct if necessary
Danger! | Risk of injury to skin and eyes caused by scalding from contact with hot coolant spray. Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing coolant. | Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90°C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers. Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.
2 | Screw cap for coolant expansion reservoir down slowly | To enable excess pressure in cooling system to be reduced.
3 | Rub dry inside of coolant filler neck at the coolant expansion reservoir
4 | Adapt sealing rubber on adapter by turning at inside diameter on coolant filler neck | Adapter
5 | Attach adapter to the coolant expansion reservoir | Adapter
6 | Attach testing unit to adapter | Testing unit
Adapter | |||
7 | Apply pressure to test equipment and check engine cooling system for leaktightness | Observe test pressure and test period. Damage can occur to the engine cooling system otherwise.
Also carry out a visual inspection. A pressure drop at the pressure gauge of the testing unit is visible for leaks in the engine cooling system .

8 | Switch on ignition | ||
9 | Set heater control to hot | See the operator's manual .
10 | Tilt cab | ||
11 | Slacken clamp (1) on coolant hose (2)
12 | Purge engine cooling system | A suitable screwdriver should be placed between the coolant pipe and coolant hose (2) to allow air present in the coolant circuit to escape. Do not damage coolant hose (2) in the process. Watch out for coolant spraying out. A hissing noise is a significant indication that there is air or pressure in the engine cooling system.

15 | Remove test equipment and screw on coolant expansion reservoir cap | Testing unit

Danger! | Risk of accident caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near the engine as it is running | Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself.
16 | Start engine and run at idling speed | The following instructions should be followed: Observe the coolant level in the coolant expansion reservoir. The coolant expansion reservoir should not empty in the process since otherwise air will find its way into the coolant circuit. Top up coolant in good time. An increase in engine rpm makes the purging result worse. Allow the engine to run until the coolant level in the coolant expansion reservoir has stabilized and does not drop anymore.
17 | Perform a test drive until the coolant thermostat opens | Bring coolant temperature up to approx. 85°C.
18 | Check coolant level again; correct if necessary | If the coolant expansion reservoir empties during the test drive operation steps 1 to 18 must be repeated. |
