Remove

Remove cap from cylinder head.

No parts of the body or limbs should be within the operating area of mechanical components when moving components.

Turn engine at crankshaft with counterholder to TDC position.

Only rotate the crankshaft in the direction of rotation of the engine.
The timing chain can skip otherwise and cause engine damage.

Install retaining lock for crankshaft.

Remove screws/bolts (4).

Install hold-down tool (7) at intake camshaft (2) as well as hold-down tool (8) at exhaust camshaft (3) and tighten with screws of hold-down tools (7, 8).

If camshaft housing (1) will be replaced.

 Camshaft housing (1) cannot be separated from intake camshaft (2) and/or exhaust camshaft (3).
First install  hold-down tool (7) and then  hold-down tool (8).

Fix gearwheels (10) and spur gears (9) in place in relation to each other using the locking bolts (11).

 Turn spur gears (9) if necessary in direction of arrow until gearwheels (10) and spur gears (9) can be fixed in place relative to each other using locking bolts (11).

Loosen screws of gearwheels (10).

If camshaft housing (1) will be replaced.

Remove hold-down tools (7, 8).

If camshaft housing (1) will be replaced.

Remove screws (5).

Observe sequence for threaded connections.
Distortions in camshaft housing (1) and consequential damage will otherwise occur.

Install hold-down tool (7) at intake camshaft (2) as well as hold-down tool (8) at exhaust camshaft (3).

If camshaft housing (1) will be replaced.

 So that intake camshaft (2) and exhaust camshaft (3) do not become twisted.

Remove camshaft housing (1) with intake camshaft (2) and exhaust camshaft (3).

Remove O-ring (6) on cylinder head.

Check

Check camshaft housing (1) with intake camshaft (2) and exhaust camshaft (3) for damage.

If problems exist,



replace camshaft housing (1) with intake camshaft (2) and exhaust camshaft (3).

Check gearwheels (10) for damage.

If problems exist,



replace gearwheels (10) and slightly tighten by hand with new screws.



Install

Transfer gearwheel (10) of intake camshaft (2) and exhaust camshaft (3).

If camshaft housing (1) with intake camshaft (2) and exhaust camshaft (3) was replaced.

 Slightly tighten new screws of gearwheels (10) by hand.

Install new O-ring (6) at cylinder head.

Install camshaft housing (1) with intake camshaft (2) and exhaust camshaft (3) at cylinder head.

Remove hold-down tools (7, 8).

Tighten bolts (5).

 Do not tighten bolts (4) yet.

Install hold-down tools (7, 8) and tighten with screws of hold-down tools (7, 8).

If camshaft housing (1) with intake camshaft (2) and exhaust camshaft (3) was replaced.

Tighten screws of gearwheels (10).

If camshaft housing (1) with intake camshaft (2) and exhaust camshaft (3) and/or gearwheels (10) was replaced.

Use counterholder to relieve spur gears (9) and remove locking bolts (11).

 Slowly relieve spur gears (9).

Remove hold-down tools (7, 8).

If camshaft housing (1) with intake camshaft (2) and exhaust camshaft (3) was replaced.

Tighten screws(4).
