The easy entry/exit function is used to adjust the position of the steering column and the driver's seat. The adjustment of the steering column is described below.
The easy entry/exit function makes it easier for the driver to get into and out of the vehicle by moving the steering column to its highest position.
Function requirements
Function in instrument cluster activated
No undervoltage or overvoltage
No lockup recognition
Function abort
Adjustment request (manual or from memory function) for the steering column
Moving to the entry/exit position
Adjustment of the steering column is activated if:
the transmitter key is removed or
the driver's door is opened at circuit 15R or at circuit 15C when the transmitter key is not inserted.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The necessary information is read in via CAN-B and processed by the front seat adjustment control unit:
Door status (signals of door contact switch) from the rear SAM control unit,
Circuit status from the EIS [EZS] control unit
Setting parameters from the instrument cluster
If all requirements are fulfilled and no abort conditions are present during actuation, the front seat adjustment control unit actuates the height adjustment motor and the steering column is moved to its highest position.
Repetition safeguard
Alternately inserting and removing the transmitter key from the EIS [EZS] control unit causes the system to oscillate between adopting the entry/exit position and the driving position.
To prevent this, the number of cycles is limited.
The counter is reset when:
the transmitter key is turned to circuit 15R, or
the status of the driver's door changes.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Moving to drive position
The steering column is moved back to the driving position assigned to the transmitter key when the following changes in status occur:
From circuit 15C to circuit 15R
From 15R to circuit 15
From no circuit to circuit 15C
Driver's door closed with circuit 15
The necessary information is read in via CAN-B and processed by the front seat adjustment control unit:
Door status (signal of door contact switch) from the rear SAM control unit,
Circuit status from the EIS [EZS] control unit.
The driving position depends on the current memory block number and is controlled by the front seat adjustment control unit.
The memory block number denotes the transmitter key-specific data record stored in the EIS [EZS] control unit.
Abort due to contrary state transitions
Movement to the driving position is interrupted if changes in status occur that are contrary to the conditions that trigger steering column adjustment.
