Preconditions
The vehicle is stationary.
The level control system operating unit is activated.
The raise/lower overall vehicle function is selected.
Operating principle in vehicles with code J6B (Multimedia cockpit) or code J6C (Multimedia cockpit, interactive)
The raise/lower function is activated by pressing the activate raising/lowering button (3).
The level control system control unit receives the signals over the central gateway control unit, from the level control system operating unit connected to the advanced signal acquisition and actuation module control unit. On the drive axle, it actuates the level control system valve unit for 2axle vehicles or the level control system valve unit for 3axle vehicles as well as with full air suspension the front axle level control system valve unit.
The air suspension bellows on the drive axle or front axle are pressurized or depressurized. The vehicle frame is raised or lowered.
The instrument cluster control unit screen shows the message "towing vehicle outside the driving level". The level control system indicator lamp is actuated.
The function messages for level control are not displayed if the driver is in the menu for level control.
The following sensors continuously send the distance between the frame and the axle to the level control system control unit:
Left drive axle position sensor
Right drive axle position sensor
Front axle travel sensor (with full air suspension)
As soon as the level control system detects through the signals from the travel sensors that the upper or lower frame height limitation has been reached, it automatically interrupts the raising or lowering of the vehicle frame. The vehicle frame therefore remains in the uppermost or lowest maximum position.
Once the desired vehicle frame height has been reached, raising or lowering of the vehicle can be stopped by actuating the stop button (4).
The air suspension bellows are no longer pressurized or depressurized.
The frame height is stored by pressing and holding the memory button M1 (5) or memory button M2 (6).
The level control system operating unit confirms saving of the frame height by all the arrows in the readiness display (1) flashing.
