Danger! | Risk of explosion. When working on natural-gas vehicles, escaping natural gas or an overheated compressed-gas tank may result in explosion. Risk of frostbite to body parts from escaping natural gas or contact with components near the valves while draining the compressed-gas tanks. Risk of poisoning or suffocation from inhaling natural gas | Remove any sources of ignition. Ensure that the work area is adequately ventilated. Wear heat-protective gloves.
| Close gas shutoff valves at compressed-gas tanks
Danger! | Risk of accident caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury caused by contusions and burns while working in the engine during the starting procedure or when the engine is running | Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting on its own.
| Start the engine and allow it to run with the vehicle stationary until the engine stops on its own. | Push extraction hose onto exhaust pipe. After engine has stopped, switch ignition off. Gas system is adequately emptied after engine stops.
| Unscrew the hexagon bolts (3) at the filling connection (1)
| Detach high-pressure line (4) at check valve (6) | Installation: Tighten the threaded connection of the pipe as instructed.
| Detach the line bracket (5)
| Take out the entire filling connection (1) along with the high pressure line (4) in the downward direction
| Cut through the tie strap (8) at the bellows (9) and pull the bellows downwards
| Install in the reverse order
| Mark position of high-pressure line to retaining plate with grease pencil (arrows))
| Detach the filling connection (1) from the high pressure line (4) and the retaining plate (7) | Inspect whether components can be re-used, install new parts if necessary.
| Assemble the filling connection (1) along with the high pressure line (4) and the retaining plate (7) | The ventilation bore on the retaining plate (7) must be at the bottom (arrow). Attach the high-pressure line (4) in the original position (pay attention to markings).
| Check the connection of the high pressure line (4) at the filling connection (1) for leaks | Moisten the connection all over with suds. Pressurize the high pressure line with compressed air from the check valve connection and check the connection at the top for formation of bubbles.
| Check the high pressure line connection at the check valve (6) for leaks | Moisten the connection all over with suds and check for the formation of bubbles after refuelling. |
