*BA27.10-N-1009-04I

17

Detach radiator unit at top and tilt forward

AR20.20-G-3871-01F

For the following operation steps, the transmission must be raised along with the engine, to do so, the distance between the engine and the radiator unit must be increased.

18

Mount crane gripper chain to rear transmission carrier (13)

19

Raise transmission and engine using crane until the bolts (7, 8) can be removed

Note distance between engine and radiator unit.
Otherwise damage may occur to the engine or the cooler unit.

20

Remove bolts (7, 8, 17)

Installation: The bolts (8) on the right side are countersunk bolts and they have to be installed again at the same position.

21

Disconnect center transmission carrier (12) from rear transmission carrier (13)

Center transmission carrier to rear transmission carrier

*BA27.10-N-1007-04I

22

Remove center transmission carrier (12) together with front transmission carrier (11)

23

Lower transmission and engine using crane to horizontal position

24

Position a jack stand with suitable wooden support (27) under the timing case (25)

Position wooden support as close to front bar of timing case (25).

25

Lower transmission and engine using crane until the timing case (25) makes contact with the wooden support (27), do not relieve load on crane or chain

26

Place suitable wooden support onto plate-type vehicle jack and prop-up transmission using plate-type vehicle jack

Adjust the height of the plate-type vehicle jack so that the load of the transmission and engine is distributed evenly across the plate-type vehicle jack and the jack stand with the wooden support (27).
Otherwise the timing case (25) may be damaged.

27

Remove crane and pull chain from rear transmission carrier (13)

28

Mount transmission carrier (32), as shown, onto transmission

All four bolts and nuts must be tightened on the transmission carrier (32).
Otherwise a one-sided load may cause damage to the transmission.

29

Hook pull chain, as shown, into eyelet of transmission carrier (32)

30

Raise transmission using pull chain and crane far enough to tension the pull chain

31

Lower plate vehicle jack

32

Remove bracket and cover in front of access opening (arrow A)

Use a screwdriver to pry off the cover in front of the access opening (arrow A).

Installation: Coat sealing surface between timing case (25) and cover with sealant.
