| Remove/install | ||
1 | Bring engine up to operating temperature (approx. 80°C) | Only check compression pressure for an engine is at operating temperature. | |
2 | Switch off ignition and remove transmitter key | ||
3 | Remove upper engine cover | ||
4 | Detach fuel filter with attached fuel lines and place to one side | ||

5 | Remove glow plugs | ||
6 | Crank engine with starter | ||
Do not crank engine using the ignition key in electronic ignition lock control unit but use contact switch for compression recorder (1). | |||
Crank engine several times to eliminate combustion residues in the cylinder. | |||
7 | Attach screw-in piece (3) with check valve installed into glow plug hole for cylinder to be checked | Screw-in fitting | |
8 | Connect compression recorder (1) with flexible adapter (2) to the screw-in piece (3) | Compression tester | |

9 | Check compression pressure | Do not crank engine using the ignition key in electronic ignition lock control unit but use contact switch for compression recorder (1). | |
To check compression pressure, the engine must be turned over using the starter for at least eight revolutions: | |||
