2 | Bolts | T1/2 | Cylinder 2 ignition coil | T1/4 | Cylinder 4 ignition coil |
Danger | Risk of death when working on component parts and systems with U >= 30 V alternating voltage (AC) or U >= 60 V direct voltage (DC) | Do not touch damaged or defective live component parts and lines or non-insulated electrical connections and lines.
Warning | Risk of injury. Skin or eye injuries may result when handling hot or glowing objects. | Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses, if necessary.
Caution | Risk of injury caused by scraping or cutting body parts on sharp vehicle parts | Always wear protective gloves when working on or near sharp and non-deburred vehicle parts.

| Remove/install | ||
1 | Remove engine air intake duct downstream of air filter.
2 | Remove charge air pipe downstream of exhaust gas turbocharger. |
| |
3 | Release and disconnect the electrical connections (1).
4 | Remove screws (2). | Screw/bolt, ignition coil to cylinder head cover
5 | Remove the ignition coils (T1/1, T1/2, T1/3, T1/4) together with the spark plug connectors. | Installation:
Spark plug connector grease
6 | Check the ignition coils (T1/1, T1/2, T1/3, T1/4) and spark plug connectors for damage. | If there are problems,
| |||
Replace corresponding components.
7 | Install in the reverse order.
8 | Read out and delete fault memory.
| |||
Warning | Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. | Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.
9 | Conduct engine test run while checking for proper operation of the engine. |
