Risk of accident caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury caused by contusions and burns when working in engine during starting procedure

Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving.
Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.
Do not grasp hot or rotating parts.

Start engine

Allow the engine to run during the test of the service brake so that the maximum vacuum is present.

Check brake pedal travel

Press brake pedal, after 100 mm pedal travel a significant resistance or increase in force must be present.

In the event of deviations from the test specifications listed in the operation text, the cause must be determined and eliminated against a separate order.

3.1

Check hand brake lever travel of the parking brake

Only on vehicles with hand brake lever for parking brake

Press the hand brake lever, there must be a significant resistance at the hand brake lever after 3 to 4 notches.

The parking brake indicator lamp must light up in the instrument panel.

In the event of deviations from the test specifications listed in the operation text, the cause must be determined and eliminated against a separate order.

4.1

Check stroke (a) of spring-loaded cylinder

Only on vehicles with parking brake valve

Operate parking brake valve, the stroke (a) of the spring-loaded cylinder must not be more than 50 mm at the operating pressure of the compressed-air system.

The parking brake indicator lamp must light up in the instrument panel.

In the event of deviations from the test specifications listed in the operation text, the cause must be determined and eliminated against a separate order.
