For vehicles affected by one of the following Service information bulletins (see document validity as well as list in each document), only steering gears from ZF or HEMA are shipped.
For all other vehicles MB steering gears must still be ordered. See the EPC for their part numbers.
Removal and installation of the each steering gear is comparable to the procedure for the previous MB steering gear. Only the position of the oil line connections has changed because of the design.
If an MB steering gear is to be replaced by a ZF or HEMA steering gear, then the parts listed in the Service information bulletin must be additionally ordered and changed.
Once the repair has been completed, the previous variant parts list (SAA) has to be deleted from the vehicle data card in the VeDoc, and the new SAA entered.
