For the above-mentioned vehicles, with immediate effect only steering gears (1) manufactured by ZF are available as replacement parts.
For vehicles not affected by this Service Information (see document applicability), the situation remains the same: only MB steering gears may be ordered. In this case, the part numbers in the EPC must be used.
Removal and installation of the steering gear (1) is comparable to the procedure for the previous MB steering gear. Only the position of the oil line connections has changed because of the design.
If an MB steering gear is to be replaced by a ZF steering gear, then the parts listed in the "Parts ordering note" table must be additionally ordered and changed.
When connecting the oil lines note the installation position of the oil return line (R), oil pressure line (A) and the oil pressure hose (B). The connections are not marked on the steering gear (1).
After a successful repair, the previous variant parts list (SAA) has to be deleted from the vehicle data card in VeDoc, and the new SAA entered, see "Overview of previous/new SAA" table.
