 Danger !

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Risk of injury to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolantspray. Risk of poisoning from swallowing coolant.

Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 °C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.
Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

Inspect cooling and heating system for leaks and proper condition before replacing the coolant

Unscrew cap (1) from filler neck (2) of coolant expansion reservoir (3).

Set temperature control on heater operating unit and heater-air conditioning system to full heat output

Remove front section of right fender

Remove heat shield from turbocharger

Drain/fill in coolant

 The old coolant and the corrosion residues must be completely flushed out.
Dispose of used coolant properly and in an environmentally acceptable manner.

Clean cooling system subject to separate repair order.

Bleed cooling system

 To do so, allow the engine to run for approx. 1 min at varying speeds.
Add coolant continuously up to lower edge of filler neck (2).

Turn off engine

Screw cap (1) onto filler neck (2) of coolant expansion reservoir (3)

Confirm replacement of coolant in maintenance booklet
