AD07.13-D-2000-04B | Notes on drive authorization/identification diagnosis diesel injection system (EDC) | TYP 901, 902, 903, 904 |
Note on drive authorization (immobilizer)
Activation of immobilizer if fitted takes place by switching off ignition. After activation of immobilizer the MSA control unit disables the fuel injection system.
Deactivation of immobilizer takes place from key to immobilizer control unit via data cable to MSA control unit. A transponder integrated in key contains a code which is read into immobilizer control unit after ignition is switched on and compared with the code stored as valid. If the transponder code corresponds with the code stored in the engine control unit as valid, immobilizer is deactivated and start is enabled.
Note on identification
The MSA control unit and immobilizer control unit are locked together by an identification code. This identification cannot be erased.
Therefore it is not possible to transfer the MSA control unit or immobilizer control unit into another vehicle on trial nor to transfer from another vehicle.
If a new MSA control unit is installed, after variant coding the initial identification of MSA control unit with immobilizer control unit must be initiated through the HHT. If MSA control unit remains in vehicle identification must be locked.
Once initial identification with HHT has been carried out successfully, subsequent identifications (engine start requirement) are carried out automatically.
If a new MSA control unit is installed for test purposes, a maximum of 40 start procedures may be carried out, as after this the control units will be securely locked together.
Note
To assign an MSA control unit to a particular vehicle, the chassis number is stored in MSA control unit.
