M3 Fuel pump
The fuel tank is made out of two-layer sheet steel and has a capacity of 70 liters.
The fuel pump is integrated in the fuel pump assembly, which is inserted in a swirl pot.
Function
To supply the fuel pump with sufficient fuel, a suction jet pump is integrated at the bottom of the fuel pump. It is supplied from a separate fuel line with fuel straight from the fuel pump.
Moreover, excess fuel flows from the fuel pressure regulator back to the fuel delivery module.
The fuel is pumped by the fuel pump via a fuel line to the fuel filter with the fuel pressure regulator.
The filtered fuel, at a regulated fuel pressure of around 3.8 bar, is pumped from the fuel pressure regulator via the fuel pressure line to the engine (single-line system).
A swirl pot prevents the fuel pump drawing in air when cornering with a low level of fuel in the tank.
The fuel tank has a fuel level sensor.
N10/2The voltage signal is transmitted to the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module, which processes the signal accordingly and transmits it via the CAN databus to the instrument cluster A1.
